The clearing of the rain forest has brought about catastrophic consequences to the environment. The environment is under the state of calamity due to clearcutting activities (Choo; 2006).
The education of undergraduates is different from the education in school; undergraduates learn under the tutelage of numerous professors of diverse expertise. Nair, V., The Global Education (2005) According to Nair (2005), the education of school students is not the same as the education in college because college students are being taught and lectured by several educationists specialized in multifarious fields.
The instructors who educate the college learners are prodigious professors which majored in various areas of specialization, therefore, the school education is not like a college education (Nair; 2005).

PRACTICE 4 Paraphrase the underlined sentences in the paragraphs below.
1. Many medical treatments and procedures are developed from experiments performed on animals. Since animals share many features with humans, scientists use animals to test safety and effectiveness of newly developed drugs before pilot testing them on small groups of patients. Without animal testing, many procedures or new drugs would be extremely unsafe. Teo Kim Mun, Treatments and Testing (2006)
According to Teo (2006), the use of animals by the researchers in drug discovery is to ensure that the drugs is safe and effective as a lot of human traits can be found in animals, before field testing them on some patients.
Before experimenters conduct human trials on a few patients, animals have been experimented on first in the development of new medicines as a measure of its validity and reliability because animals have many human qualities (Teo; 2006).
2. Youths today are used to having information passed to them on a silver platter. Not many youths like to read anymore because it involves too much work. My peers hate to read, not only because there are words involved in that activity, but also because it is difficult for them to visualise the world presented in the book. It is also impossible for them to focus on a book because they have short attention spans. Television, on the other hand, presents to them a different world every 30 minutes, which holds their attention. This leaves them with no mental work to do, except to decide which channel they would like to watch. Akmar Saad, The Reading Dilemma (2008)
According to Akmar (2008), todays younger generation is likely to get easily distracted while reading a book whereas they are more attentive to television which every half an hour showcasing them another realm. While televison appears to be an attention grabber to the young since it illustrates a different world half-past every hour, nevertheless a book is something that they can hardly concentrated on (Akmar; 2008).
