But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Galatians 6:13
With every victory over sin Ive experienced in the past 41 + years I've had the tendency to believe Ive arrived. Until I remember that my heart is still desperately wicked beyond belief (Jeremiah 17:9). If I were to come before God in His glory this moment I must fall speechless (Matthew 22:12) on my face before Him. I could never stand before God apart from the righteousness I have in Jesus Christ. Thank God for His amazing grace to me! For from within, out of the human heart, come evil ideas, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, evil, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, pride, and folly. All these evils come from within and defile a person." (Mark 7:21-23 from The NET Bible) ~ Eddie Perkins

A friend posted the above excerpt on Facebook, and it made me think of the song, "In Christ Alone." As I reflected on these thoughts and on the lyrics to that
wonderful song, I began to get a sense of the power of God that works in us when we come to prayer and trust in Christ alone. Somehow, in the prayer room, we are surely shown our terrible state. But most importantly we see how we are covered by his grace. When He exposes us, it is not to hurt us, but to remove from us that which keeps us from being effective. It is sort of like groping around in a dark room, and then someone turns the light on. It startles us, and we wince as our eyes begin to adjust to the bright light shining in. For the brief moment of distress, there comes an empathetic exchange of emotion, as we see in front of us the gauntlet of pain that we were about to enter in. And we understand. The light of Christ also reminds me that I can only boast in Christ. I can never say I am any better than anyone else, because I see that if it were not for God's grace, I would be still groping in the dark, and likely bumping into many things that would hurt. The intensity of His love draws me, and exposes the darkness around me; and I know that my glory is truly in Christ alone. So, I boastin Christ alone. Carol Hudler

Calendar updates at www.rolla-firstassembly.org/aboutus/calendar
As a church, we have committed to planting churches where we arein homes, workplaces, or public venuesin response to 1 Corinthians 9:22.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (Covenant House) in Springfield MO was planted on April 21, 2012. Covenant House has a vision to reach out and minister to the fast growing African community in Springfield. The African Christian attributes we hold strongly are holiness, prayerfulness, strong faith, deepness of worship, proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ to every soul, and hand of fellowship. We integrate these attributes with a view of not limiting fellowship to Africans. We have seen Gods divine provision and His unending faithfulness to His children. The testimonies of changed lives by the power of Gods word and the workings of The Spirit stirs in us the courage to take our next step of faith along the journey God has called us to. The first service started with 4 people from the Springfield area, 9 from First Assembly of God in Rolla, and 3 from Lebanon. In the last one year, we have grown to a weekly attendance of about 40 people from the Springfield area. Love, support, encouragement and prayers continue to pour in from First Assembly of God in Rolla. We have outgrown our present place of worship and are currently looking to Gods provision for a bigger place of worship. To God be all the glory, great things He has done!
Apologetics 101
When we have a question such as this, where do we go first? We go to the Word of God! Lets look at some clues and see what we can discover. Clue #1: Acts 17:26 From one man [Adam] he [G o d ] m a de ev e r y na t io n of m en .. . Therefore, Cains wife had to be a descendent of Adam. Clue #2: Genesis 3:20, Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living. So Cains wife had to be a descendent of Eve. Clue #3: Genesis 5:4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. More sons and daughters? Wait a minute! Are you suggesting that Cain married (gulp!) a sister? Yes. Objection! But isnt marrying a close relative incest? Again, we go to the Word of God first to find the answer. When were the laws against marrying a close relative given? Not until about 2500 years later. Leviticus 18:6 says, No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. . . Verses 7-18 define that prohibition further. Remember that Abraham, who was born approximately 2000 years after Creation, was married to Sarah, who was his half-sister (Genesis 20:12). Isaac married his cousin Bethuels daughter, Rebekah (Genesis 24:15). Jacob married his cousins, Leah and Rachel. Laban, their father, was Jacobs uncle (Rebekahs brother). (Genesis 24:29). Why was marrying a close relative forbidden in Leviticus (and in our current laws against incest)? Close relatives are more likely to have similar genetic mistakes which mean that their offspring have a greater likelihood of being deformed. However, initially when God created everything, it was very good. (Genesis 1:31) Adam and Eve were created perfect with no defects. Mans choice to disobey God brought a curse into the world, and one of the ways this was manifested was mistakes in the genes. The early generations did not have as many genetic mistakes, so it was not a problem to marry a close relative. As the centuries went by, later generations had more and more genetic mistakes, so God finally forbade marriage with a close relative.

Upon arriving at Mount Grace Teen Challenge Center in Winnfield, Louisiana in the spring of 2012, we discovered they were in great need of an electrical upgrade. Their existing electric was run to the kitchen, one classroom, and the trailer with essentially heavy-duty extension cords bringing electric to the others. They were running lights, fans, hair dryers, heaters, etc. off this electric, and therefore they were continually throwing breakers. We did extensive trenching, running 2 PVC electrical pipe to two different central locations. From there we fed each individual building with a separate pipe. We installed wire to each one except for three of the buildings. We also set them up with a temporary panel to better supply electrical service for the camp. That spring trip, we also poured concrete sidewalks to some of the main buildings, re-leveled the kitchen and public bathroom jacking them up, we trenched in and installed water lines to the front office building and the building across from it, we built a wooden deck from the deck in front of the dining hall to in front of the public bathrooms and up to their laundry, installing the ice machine we brought with us under a lean-to we built beside the kitchen. When we came back down in the fall of 2012, we tore out the kitchen floor and walls, drywalled the ceiling and walls, and put down ceramic flooring. We redid plumbing and drain lines in the kitchen and installed a wash sink. We rewired the kitchen for air conditioning and installed receptacles were they requested. We also poured sidewalks for the rest of the buildings. This spring, we were finally able to install a new 400
amp panel inside the storage room supplying electric to five of the buildings and having available electrical service for their future administration buildings. We installed a 600 amp outside panel (mounted on poles we put in) which supplied electricity to nine buildings with an additional panel for RVers to hook up to. This upgraded the electrical service to what was needed. Previous teams between our spring 2012 trip and this last trip had installed the new panel boxes in the buildings around the camp and we hooked them up and installed outlets in the dorm rooms for future air conditioning units. We finished trenching for the restroom and the electrical lines to the last buildings and installed new electrical meters. We also painted the exterior of the storage buildings, installed some guttering on the same, and put in a laminate floor in one of the dorms. We installed ceramic flooring and a ceramic vanity in the bathroom of the counseling cabin and installed carpet in its main room. We recovered a chair for the cabin to match the furniture in it, and Kalise Garner worked on a painting for that room to match the dcor. We brought with us a washing machine, sectional couch, two lawn mowers, and other miscellaneous donated material. The people that volunteered each trip always ended up being people with the exact ability and skills we needed for jobs we were asked to do, even though
sometimes we had no idea ahead of time that we would be needing those specific skills. And we even had some people that were open to do special, extra jobs that were on their hearts that turned out to be a special blessing to the center and the girls. Thank you for the opportunity to be able to bless this group of women. Lee Collins
