INTRODUCTION
1.1
MEANING OF OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE (OSS)
Open-source software (OSS) is computer software with its source code made
available and licensed with an open-source license in which the copyright holder provides the
rights to study, change and distribute the software for free to anyone and for any purpose.
Open-source software is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open-source
software is the most prominent example of open-source development and often compared to
(technically defined) user-generated content or (legally defined) open-content movements.

MEANING OF HARDWARE
Hardware is a comprehensive term for all of the physical parts of a computer, as
distinguished from the data it contains or operates on, and the software that provides
instructions for the hardware to acoomplish tasks. The boundary between hardware and
software is slightly blurry - firmware is software that is "built-in" to the hardware, but such
firmware is usually the province of computer programmers and computer engineers in any
case and not an issue that computer users need to concern themselves with.

MEANING OF OPEN SOURCE OS
An open source operating system (OS) is a set of programs that schedule tasks,
allocates storage and presents a default interface to the user between applications. But this
OS is free, user have the right to use, modify and redistribute the software for better
interoperability.

3.1
MEANING OF OPEN SOURCE APPLICATION SOFTWARE
Open source application software is computer software that is available in source
code form for which the source code and certain other rights normally reserved for copyright
holders are provided under a software license that permits users to study, change, and
improve the software. Open source licenses often meet the requirements of the Open Source
Definition. Some open source application software is available within the public domain.
Open source application software is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner.
Open source application software is the most prominent example of open source
development and often compared to user-generated content or open content movements. The
term open source application software originated as part of a marketing campaign for free
application software.
3.2
EXAMPLES OF OPEN SOURCE APPLICATION SOFTWARE
3.2.1 MOZILLA FIREFOX
Mozilla Firefox is a free and open source web browser developed for Windows, OS X
and Linux, with a mobile version for Android, by Mozilla Foundation and its subsidiary, the
Mozilla Corporation. Firefox uses the Gecko layout engine to render web pages, which
implements current and anticipated web standards.
The Firefox project began as an experimental branch of the Mozilla project by Dave
Hyatt, Joe Hewitt and Blake Ross. They believed the commercial requirements of Netscape's
sponsorship and developer-driven feature creep compromised the utility of the Mozilla
browser. To combat what they saw as the Mozilla Suite's software bloat, they created a standalone browser, with which they intended to replace the Mozilla Suite. On April 3, 2003, the
Mozilla Organization announced that they planned to change their focus from the Mozilla
Suite to Firefox and Thunderbird.
3.2.2 THUNDERBIRD
Mozilla Thunderbird is a free, open source, cross-platform email, news and chat client
developed by the Mozilla Foundation.
The project strategy was modeled after Mozilla Firefox, a project aimed at creating a web
browser. On December 7, 2004, version 1.0 was released, and received over 500,000 downloads
in its first three days of release, and 1,000,000 in 10 days.

5.1
MEANING OF PERVASIVE COMPUTING
Pervasive computing also known as ubiquitous computing is the growing trend towards
embedding microprocessors in everyday objects so they can communicate information. The
words pervasive and ubiquitous mean "existing everywhere." Pervasive computing devices are
completely connected and constantly available.
5.2
EXAMPLES OF PERVASIVE COMPUTING
(a) Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is a 10.1-inch tablet computer designed, developed and
marketed by Samsung Electronics. The tablet runs Android 4.0 and serves as a platform for
multimedia consumption including movies, music, and web browsing. It is the second entry in
the Samsung Galaxy Note range, which emphasises the use of a stylus, officially named S-Pen as
an input device for tasks such as sketching and note-taking.
(b) Sony Xperia Z
The Sony Xperia Z is a touchscreen enabled, full HD Android flagship high-end
smartphone designed, developed, and marketed by Sony Mobile. The Xperia Z runs the Android
4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) software. The smartphone has Ingress Protection Ratings of IP55 and IP57,
making it dust protected, water-jet protected, and waterproof in up to one meter of water for up
to thirty minutes, and features a 13.1MP Exmor RS camera sensor as well as a full HD (1080p)
display, encompassed in Sony's Industrial 'Omni-Balance' Design.

CONCLUSION
The improvement of development in ICT not only helps us through by resolving our
daily life faster and easier but also have created a paperless environment naturally good for our
future.
