Wedding List Wines for Rick and Susan

Rick and Susan have decided to opt out of the traditional wedding list and have asked Genesis
Wines to prepare a list of wines that they can enjoy in the years to come. They have asked for
wines that can be drunk now and also enjoyed over time at later stages of maturity (the wine
that is). With that in mind we have selected the following wines in order to best suit their
needs. There are some great wines in here with emphasis on their own requests and
suggestions so please delve in and help them create something that they can both share and
enjoy together in wedded bliss.

All the wines below are currently in stock although this may change over the coming months.
We will liaise with Rick and Susan to provide suitably enjoyable alternatives should any of their
choices become unavailable.

We will pass on any messages that you wish to include with your purchase, along with notification of
your choice of wine.

Price per bottle

White Burgundy

2007 Macon Verze Nicolas Maillet £10.50 inc VAT

Nicolas is a very talented young producer who has a small parcel of vines that lie next to the village of
Verzé in the heart of the Mâconnais. No oak is used in the production of his whites. Surprising owing to
the weight and complexity of the wines, though this fact can be explained by low yields and the higher
than average age of vines – around 50 years old. Drink now- 2011

2006 Meursault JP Fichet £26.00 inc VAT

A splendid rich White Burgundy from a superb vintage and from a serious producer too which is what
really counts in Burgundy. This has a gloriously lifted nose with hazelnut and toast to the fore, adding to
the complex citrus and orchard fruit characters in the wine. It finishes long and fresh and has a great
future. Drink Now - 2013

White Loire Valley

2007 Menetou Salon Morogues, Henri Pelle £12.50 inc VAT

Menetou is definitely pulling its weight against its more illustrious Sauvignon producing neighbours, Pouilly
Fumé and Sancerre. The talented Julien Zernott, who with Anne Pellé, has taken this winery from
strength to strength, maintains a keen emphasis on expressing the terroir of the vineyards in the wines.
Of course the fact that Julien is great friends with Alphonse Mellot of Sancerre fame doesn’t hurt when it
comes to picking up the odd trick or two. Drink now - 2010
White Rhone

2008 Cotes du Rhone Village La Cadene, Chaume Arnaud £10.60 inc VAT
Stunningly fresh and vibrant on the nose with aromas of honeysuckle, lemons and white peach. The palate
is complex and lively with hints of cinnamon spice weaving through mouth watering acidity and a creamy
depth. Delicious. Drink Now - 2011

German White

2006 Piesporter Goldtropfchen Kabinett, Hospitien £13.00 inc VAT

German wine seems to be moving out from under the shadow of low quality and poor value that the
‘Black Tower’ and ‘Blue Nun’ brands are shamefully guilty of representing in previous years, and is
producing some very reasonable white table wines that would be welcome in many a glass this year
especially during the summer months. The Piesporter is a big step above that level with floral notes and
wonderful racy acidity that complements the ripe citrus fruits of the Reisling along with the honeyed
notes that come through with wonderful length. This is a wine to enjoy now but also one that will cellar
wonderfully and reward with patience. Drink Now - 2015

New Zealand White

2008 Michelle Richardson Sauvignon Marlborough £12.30 inc VAT

New Zealand Sauvignon has become a national phenomenon in that is has such a broad appeal and no
matter what the season, it is delight to have in the glass. Standing out from the crowd of Sauvignons could
have been a problem but not for Michelle Richardson’s wine it has an impact and quality that elevates it
above the rest of the pack. With an intense nose of ripe gooseberries and tropical fruit, the palate is full
and inviting with fresh citrus and mineral notes that are lingering and moorish on the finish. Drink Now -
2011

Red Bordeaux

2004 Chateau Bel Air, Cru Bourgeois, St Estephe £18.50 inc VAT
It is very classic in style, this is not a modern-style Saint Estèphe in any way. But there is such a regal
charm on the nose with wonderful clarity and aromas of sous-bois, cigar box and a touch of oriental
spices just to live things up. The medium-bodied palate is very well balanced. Slightly grainy tannins,
certainly good in weight with a svelte texture. A touch of white pepper and even ginger on the austere
finish that leaves that palate as fresh as before you took a sip. It was difficult not to finish off this bottle
before we finished a delicious rump steak! Drink now-2012

Red Burgundy
2005 Chambolle Musigny Vieilles Vignes, Lignier-Michelot £27.00 inc.VAT
Notably riper if perhaps not quite as aromatically elegant with lower register yet airy black and blue pinot
fruit aromas that display spice, earth and underbrush hints that merge into rich, full and sweet flavors that
deliver excellent volume on the palate saturating finish. This conveys a strong sense of volume without
weight or heaviness and the finish is explosive. A very impressive villages and recommended. From 2012+.

2004 Vosne Romanée, Domaine Engel £26.20 inc.VAT

Spicy, elegant and nicely pure black cherry and plum aromas combine with racy, precise and sweet light to
medium weight flavors underpinned by dusty tannins and a delicious, punchy and moderately long finish.
This will benefit from 5 to 7 years of cellar time. Drink now-2014
Rhone Valley

2006 Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine Vieille Julienne £30.00 inc.VAT

A dense purple colour as well as impressive bouquet of black currants, licorice, and hints of spice boxes
as well as lavender. Full bodied and opulent with stunning concentration, this will give great pleasure over
the next decade and more. Drink 2010-2022

2005 Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Cuvee Reservée Domaine Pegau £36.00 inc.VAT

Deep ruby. Seductive dark berry and kirsch aromas are complicated by musky garrigue, black olive and
dark chocolate. Dense blackberry and bitter cherry flavors stain the palate and develop a licorice
character with air. Tightens up on the long, chewy finish, which is dominated by tangy red berry fruit. This
hugely concentrated wine deftly combines liveliness and power. Small Quantity Available. Drink 2012-
2020+

2006 Cote Rotie Le Gallet Blanc, Francois Villard £28.50 inc.VAT

Ruby-red. Very fresh aromas of spicy raspberry and rhubarb plus a complicating note of graphite. Firm,
focused and brisk, with an energetic, mineral tone to the bright red fruit flavors. The zesty, clean finish
features very fine tannins and impressive persistence. Drink 2010-2016+

Outside of France

2003 Barolo Monprivato Giuseppe Mascarello £43.00 inc. VAT

The 2003 Barolo Monprivato is made in an atypically big, powerful style loaded with ripe fruit supported
by plenty of structure. It boasts an enticing palate presence and a uniquely intense personality Mauro
Mascarello is one of the few producers who prefers his 2003 Barolos to his 2001s as he finds they have
more power and intensity while also maintaining finesse. A really special wine for that special anniversary
occasion. Drink 2010-2023

2005 Entity Shiraz, John Duval Barossa Valley £20.50 inc.VAT

The 2005 Entity is 100% Shiraz, 100% barrel-fermented in 45% new French oak and is made from the
vineyard that some of the ‘Grange’ grapes came from. Opaque purple-coloured, it delivers a nearly
ethereal perfume of smoky oak, spice box, pencil lead, meat, game, violets, and blueberry muffin. Full-
bodied yet surprisingly elegant, this Shiraz has superb balance, great depth, layers of flavour, and a very
long, pure finish. Drink 2009-2017

2005 Dutschke Oscar Semmler £24.00 inc. VAT

Wayne Dutschke’s vineyards have been in the family for three generations. His grandfather Oscar
Semmler started planting in the Barossa Valley back in the 1930s, and for much of this time the grapes
were used for making sweet styles of wine, or simply sold on. with a great attention to detail in the
production of his wines. It offers a superb perfume of toasty oak, spice box, bacon, truffle, blueberry, and
blackberries. Velvety-textured, seamless, and ripe, it has layers of spicy black fruits, soft tannins, and with
a long, pure finish. The Oscar Semmler has been well received by the international critics and will be a
long lived blockbuster for the cellar. Drink 2010-2020

2006 Pinot Noir Michelle Richardson, Central Otago, NZ £22.25 inc.VAT

Black fruits are dominant on the nose, with subtle spices, which will for savoury notes as this wine
matures. The oxymoron of firm and gentle tannins, form a template for the rich fruit and careful use of
oak to develop in to a wine of elegance and complexity. Very good indeed. Drink 2009-2014
