The teacher provides three new handwriting worksheets on the classroom blog containing kindergarten high frequency words sorted by assessment weeks. She made the practice sheets to help children work on handwriting and another section of their checklist at the same time. The class has been reading several snow-themed books the past two weeks. The teacher requests spray cleaner to clean tables after lunch as wipes do not clean as well. Important upcoming dates are listed, including a book fair the first week of February where each class has an assigned shopping day.

The Jones Journal

I have put four new handwriting worksheets on our classroom blog that contain the kindergarten high frequency words. The words are sorted according to which nine weeks they are first assessed; however, please remember that these words are not evaluated by handwriting! I only made these practice sheets as a way for the children to work on two sections of the checklist at one time.

NEEDED
Kendall, Francie & Sophie during 100th day rotations.
th

THE PAST TWO WEEKS WE

read I KNOW AN OLD LADY WHO SWALLOWED SOME SNOW, ALL YOU NEED FOR A SNOWMAN, WHEN IT SNOWS, THE JACKET I WEAR IN THE SNOW, I LOVE SNOW, FROGGY GETS DRESSED, SNOW FRIENDS, CAT AND MOUSE IN THE SNOW and HOP TO THE TOP.

We are in need of some all purpose surface spray cleaner (for example, Lysol, 409, etc.) to clean our tables after lunch. The spray seems to get the tables cleaner than the disinfecting wipes we have.

FYI

The week of February 3rd-7th is Cary Woods book fair and each day of that week is designated as certain classrooms shopping days. To help with the traffic flow, we ask parents to try and come on their assigned day. Our day is Tuesday, February 4th! If you can, please come Tuesday to take your child to the book fair. If you cannot come Tuesday, please feel free to come on a day that best fits your schedule. The book fair will be open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to 2:00, Thursday night after the PTO meeting, and Friday from 8:00 to 12:00. Parents are welcome any day during those hours! Please note the following regarding this weeks scheduled All-Pro Dadsdue to the weather and the amount of sickness in our community we are going to cancel this weekends All-Pro Dads work/play day. There will be an All-Pro Dads breakfast in February and a work/play day in March.

PARENT READING
There are three short articles in t his weeks Friday Folder titled Big Ideas From Little People, Lets Not Push Kindergarten Children (sorry for the poor quality), and Play: An Endangered Species. Two of the readings deal with things that are being stripped away from young children in schools and the other was written by Dr. Freeman, the first principal of Auburn Early Education Center. If you signed up for the Paperless Classroom Communication option, these readings can be found on the right side of our blog under Suggested Parent Readings.

ONE LAST THING

Please read over the letter in this weeks Friday Folder about the Wonders Your Turn Practice Books that will be coming home Monday. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Have a wonderful weekend!!! -S. Jones
