Solid Edge Guide for Honda CD 70 Hub

The document describes the 21 step process for designing the rear wheel hub coupling of a Honda CD 70 bike in Solid Edge. It covers basic commands like protrusion, thin-wall, hole, chamfer, cutout, and round. Key steps include using protrusion commands to add material, thin-wall to create walls, holes to add openings, and cutout/round commands to modify shapes. The process took approximately 3-4 hours to complete.

REAR WHEEL HUB COUPLING OF HONDA CD 70, BIKE

DESIGNING: Commands covered:

In its designing following basic commands of Solid Edge are covered: Protrusion Command Thin-wall Command Hole Command Chamfer Command Cutout Command Round Command

These commands are the basics for nearly all solid part designs. Thats why I selected this part. Step by step designing description of the above mentioned part is given as below.

STEP-BY-STEP DESCRIPTION: Step -1 First of all I made sketch named as Sketch 1 in the Edge bar. It consists of nine
concentric circles and eight other circles. Diameters are given as: For nine concentric circles:Circle 1 is of 108mm. Circle 2 is of 83mm Circle 3 is of 78mm Circle 4 is of 50mm Circle 5 is of 48mm Circle 6 is of 40mm Circle 7 is of 33mm Circle 8 is of 30.5mm Circle 9 is of 25mm For Eight other circles there are two different diameters which are as under:Larger circle is of 18mm Smaller circle is of 9mm These two circles lie between Circle 2 and Circle 6.

Step-2
Then circle 1 is protruded by 4mm. That was named as Protrusion 1. Protrusion 8 was then made that is of 26mm. Protrusion 12 of 39mm is then made.

Step-3
Then I used thin-wall command with common thickness 4mm. That modification is named as Thin-Wall 1 in the Edge bar.

Step-4
After that I used Hole command for creating hole in Protruded portion of Circle 9. A hole with diameter of 25mm is created.

Step-5
Then Protrusions 15, 16 and 17 with distance 14, 4 and 4mm respectively, were made.

Step-6
Then I used Chamfer command to chamfer the portion of circle 6 and 8 below the axis of the part. I used setback distance of 3mm for chamfering.

Step-7
After that I used round command to round the extended portion of circle 6 and 7 below the axis. Radius of 2mm was taken for this modification.

Step-8
Protrusion 18, 19 and 21 were then made with the distance of 29, 7 and 12mm respectively.

Step-9
Then I used Hole command for creating 4 holes in four smaller circles. I took diameter of 9mm to make hole.

Step-10
Then I used Cutout command with distance of 26mm to decrease the thickness of the wall of circle 2 and 3 to 3mm.

Step-11
Protrusion 22 and 23 were then made, with a distance of 12 and 43mm respectively.

Step-12
Then inner portion of Protrusion 23 was rounded by radius of 5mm. that was named as Round 13.

Step-13
Then I used cutout command for two times, named as Cutout 6 and 7 with cutout distance of 5 and 2mm respectively.

Step-14 Then I made some sketches in the upper portion of the part from the axis. I made
protrusion of 6mm on the circle 3, named as Protrusion 24.

Step-15
Then I used chamfer command for two times to chamfer the required portion of protruded part on circle 3. I used setback distance of 2mm.

Step-16
Then I made Protrusion 25 in the same way but with a little different sketch as for protrusion 24.

Step-17
Then I chamfered required portion of Protrusion 25 by setback distance of 1.5mm.

Step-18
I used cutout command for four times to remove unwanted part drawn due to Protrusion 23. Cutout distance of 10mm was used for the perpendicular sketches made.

Step-19
Due to Cutout 9, 10, 11 and 12 some portion of Protrusion 8 was also removed hence causing a fault in our design. Therefore Protrusion 26 was made to re-attain required dimensions as for that of Protrusion 8. Same distance and same sketch was used as that for Protrusion 8.

Step-20
Then I used round command to finalize my part. I rounded bottom portion of Protrusion 26. A radius of 5mm was used for this purpose.

Step-21
For the last and final step I again used round command to round lower bottom portion between circle 1 and 2 below the part axis. For this purpose I used 10mm radius.

Time required completing the part:

It takes near about 3 to four hours of continuous work to completely design the part. Provided that dimension of the part are given.
