Freedom

“By today’s standards King George III was a very mild tyrant indeed. He taxed his American colonists at a rate of only pennies per annum. His actual impact on their personal lives was trivial. He had arbitrary power over them in law and in principle but in fact it was seldom exercised. If you compare his rule with that of today’s U.S. Government you have to wonder why we celebrate our independence..” “When it can be said by any country in the world, my poor are happy, neither ignorance nor distress is to be found among them, my jails are empty of prisoners, my streets of beggars, the aged are not in want, the taxes are not oppressive, the rational world is my friend because I am the friend of happiness. When these things can be said, then may that country boast its constitution and government. Independence is my happiness, the world is my country and my religion is to do good.” ― Thomas Paine, Rights of Man FREEDOM defined: Liberty; the right to do what is not forbidden by law. Freedom does not preclude the idea of subjection to law; indeed, it presupposes the existence of some legislative provision, the observance of which insures freedom to us, by securing the like observance from others. 2 Har. Cond. L. R. 208. FREEMAN defined: One who is in the enjoyment of the right to do whatever he pleases, not forbidden by law. One in the possession of the civil rights enjoyed by, the people generally. 1 Bouv. Inst. n. 164. See 6 Watts, 556: “The proverb warns that, 'You should not bite the hand that feeds you.' But maybe you should, if it prevents you from feeding yourself.” “Language ... has created the word 'loneliness' to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word 'solitude' to express the glory of being alone.”

Freedom (n.): To ask nothing. To expect nothing. To depend on
nothing.
INDEPENDENCE defined: A state of perfect irresponsibility to any
superior; the United States are free and independent of all earthly
power. 2. Independence may be divided into political and natural
independence. By the former is to be understood that we have contracted
no tie except those, which flow from the three great natural rights of
safety, liberty and property. The latter consists in the power of being
able to enjoy a permanent well-being, whatever may be the disposition
of those from whom we call ourselves independent. In that sense a
nation may be independent with regard to most people, but not
independent of the whole world. Vide on of Independence.
Man cannot survive except through his mind. He comes on earth unarmed.
His brain is his only weapon. The mind is an attribute of the
individual.
The basic need of the creator is independence. The reasoning mind
cannot work under any form of compulsion. It cannot be curbed,
sacrificed or subordinated to any consideration whatsoever. It demands
total independence in function and in motive. To a creator, all
relations with men are secondary.
No man can live for another. He cannot share his spirit just as he
cannot share his body. But the second-hander has used altruism as a
weapon of exploitation and reversed the base of mankind's moral
principles. Men have been taught every precept that destroys the
creator. Men have been taught dependence as a virtue.
To find yourself, think for yourself.
When I discover who I am, Ill be free.
The greatest thing in the world is to know how to belong to oneself.
For it is in your power to retire into yourself whenever you choose.
Rule your mind or it will rule you. Horace
