Admission procedure consists of:

2. Online Aptitude Test
3. Personal interview
4. Notifcation and acceptance of admission
Completion and submission of application form:
Completed application form must be accompanied by supporting documents. The application will not be
considered unless all answers are typewritten (or printed legibly), signed and dated. The applicants full name
must appear at the top right corner on each page of the application and supporting materials.
Alternately, applicants may complete the online pre-admission form in the Home Page of www.iijnm.org.
You may then follow up by mailing copies of your academic records, required essays (see Application Form),
and recommendation letters.
The following must be submitted to the Admissions Committee:
1. Completed application form.
2. Supporting materials (if any) such as writing samples (published), record of achievements, etc.
3. Photocopy of offcial transcripts of academic records from undergraduate, graduate and/or professional
institutions attended.
4. Two letters of recommendation from current or former academic faculty or professional superiors.
The applicant must ask those writing recommendations to sign across the sealed fap of the envelope.
Recommendation letters must accompany the application form.
5. Essay 1: Your reasons for wanting to pursue a career in journalism, and what you hope to achieve in this
career (in not more than 250 words)
6. Essay 2: Your views on a recent event that received major national or international attention
(in not more than 1,000 words)
7. The Rs. 1,000 application-processing fee by bank draft or pay order (payable at Bangalore) and drawn
in favour of IIJNM Bangalore.

On-line written test and personal interview:
Applicants who are notifed of consideration (short-listed) must take the on-line aptitude test. Qualifed
candidates will be notifed of personal interview at IIJNM campus in Bangalore. If you are unable to attend
the personal interview, you may request for Skype or Google Video Chat interview as a special case (if your
reason for not attending personal interview is accepted by the Admissions Committee).
Those candidates appearing for personal interview will be notifed of admission status within 24 hours.
Campus Visit (Optional):
While it is not mandatory, applicants are encouraged to visit IIJNM campus at their convenience after
emailing us at
[email protected] at least 3 days in advance. Further, applicants may use this opportunity for
the written test and personal interview required for admission.
The following dates are available for campus visit:
October 5, 2013; November 2, 2013; December 7, 2013; January 11, 2014; January 25, 2014; February 8,
2014; February 22, 2014; March 8, 2014; March 22, 2014. Subsequent scheduled campus visits are on all
