Mustad Hooks

1) The document discusses various hook models from Mustad including their sizes, dimensions, and strength ratings. 2) It provides tables with the size ranges, gap widths, diameters, and MB strength tests for different hook models. 3) The document also includes guidance on how to interpret the size ranges and estimate dimensions for hooks where only an interval is given.

Remark. If you wish to c onvert from c entimetre and millimetre to inc h or from kilogram to pound

Notice that Mustad has enlarged the size sortiment. 80525 is a really good hook for Salmon, Sea trout/Brown
trout, Grayling and Rainbow/Steelhead. I prefer the smaller size 12 - 16.

How to use the information above ?

For example the Salmon Fly Hook Double 80525 BL. In that
serial there are 9 hooks. Now we know that the length is in the
interval 3.85 - 1.20 centimetre. So then, 3.85-1.20 = 2.65 2.65:9
= 0.29 We can roughly say that the difference between each hook
is 3 millimetre. Size 16 = 1.2 cm, size 14 = 1.5 cm, size 12 = 1.8
cm ...etc. This method can also be used for other interval.

estimate it beeing 70% of the hook length for most of the hooks above, or at least concerning the nine 80525-hooks.

The interval for MB-Test

The Mustad Bending Test coeffecient measured in kilograms is the maximum load the hook can withstand. (In a real fishing situation
many factors influence the load a hook can take : the water, type of fish, line, rod and gear. And above all, your own experience and skill.
Normally, the weight of a fish can exceed the MB Test figure many times. The MB Test enables you to tailor your equipment based on
your own fishing skills).
