writing the text. I then designed the location for the logo. I moved on to the location of the

Programs/Tools: Notepad++
Description: This project was to design and code a web page to promote a logo that I have
previously designed. The project uses coding in both html and css.
Process: For this project, I started off selecting one of my logos. I went with my Nanocyber logo and then began the coding. Since I am using a PC I am using Notepad++ to write
my code. I used the code initially provided as a template. I adjusted the code as necessary,
adding lists and such where needed. I did the same with the .css code, taking out what I didnt
like and adding what I needed. I designed a banner and tile-able background to further add to
the page.I received critiques and adjusted my page as needed.

Programs/Tools: Adobe InDesign CC, Adobe Illustrator CC
Description: This is a design of a new logo, letterhead, and business card for a company.
Process (Programs,Tools, Skills): I started off deciding on the company and its name. I
then designed the logo in Illustrator. I designed it based on a water molecule, a simple atomic
molecule that promotes the nano-technology based ideas. After designing the logo, I went
ahead and designed the business cards. I went with a circular design because it is something
radically different. I calculated the surface area of a standard business card and calculated the
area for a circular one in addition to excluding the cut out portion of the card so that the
surface area is approximately the same (within about 1/10th of an inch). I then designed the
letterhead based on similar styles from the business card and the ideology of the business. I
then received critique and made the slight adjustments to the design.

T-Shirt
Date: December 13, 2014
Programs/Tools: Adobe Photoshop CC
Description: Design of a t-shirt using a logo and image.
Process (Programs,Tools, Skills): In making this t-shirt design, I have been working on a
painting of my own. The image is painted in Photoshop using a Wacom Intuos Pen and Touch
pressure tablet. The image is then designed around the edge to remove the hard edge to work
with the t-shirt. The logo on the front was previeously designed. The images were placed in a
photoshop mock-up file to lay on the t-shirt. After some designing the image and logo were
placed where they are now. The t-shirt design is made for promotional events for the Ren-Fair
company.

Montage
Date: October 25, 2014
Programs/Tools: Adobe Photoshop CC
Description: Montage Project that utilizes multiple images into one design that presents and
inspirational message.
Process (Programs,Tools, Skills, Steps taken while designing): First I found the images
that I wanted, based on the idea that I had. Once I had found the images, I brought them into
Photoshop for editing. I got the page set up with background and then brought in the images.
I masked them how I wanted them, adjusted them how they needed adjustments, and placed
the text where I wanted it. I adjusted size and opacity of the layer in general as well as with
masks. After critique for ideas for improvement as well as confirmation of my own ideas, I
changed placement, orientation, as well as introducing more of the pinkish purple through the
piece.
Filter / Colorization used and where it was applied: I used a hue/saturation filter and a
photo filter on the flower. I used a photo filter on the butterfly. I used brightness/contrast and
levels on all images for minor adjustments before the images were brought in.
Color scheme and color names: Analogous scheme utilizing brick, red, and violet.

Photodesign
Date: October 19, 2014
Programs/Tools: Adobe Photoshop CC, Adobe Illustrator 2014
Description: This is a Sample Photodesign that utilizes a full bleed photo and a specific
color scheme. My design is focused towards groups of sailors that fear singing pirates.
Process (Programs,Tools, Skills): This started with the set-up of the photo. I knew I
wanted to use my little pirate ships and wanted a red-ish/orange-ish color scheme because it
works well with my boat. I set up lighting and everything how I wanted and shot my photos,
keeping in my the rule of thirds, leading room, focus, and lighting from the activity. I then
brought the photo into Photoshop and played with adjustment layers to start working with
what I wanted it to look like. Utilizing an analogous color scheme I design the basics of what
colors tints/shades I wanted and where I wanted them to go. I then utilized my skills in Adobe
Illustrator to design some of the shapes in a vector design. I then imported the shapes back
into Photoshop, laid the text on there and readjusted some of the layers to get the colors
closer into focus. I had the design critiqued and then continued to make adjustments. I had
originally set it to be just a warning against pirates, saying Terror of the Seven Seas but
my font made it look like Tenor. I then liked the fun I could have with it and made more
adjustments.
Color scheme and color names: Analogous Color Scheme using Brick, Orange, and Gold.

Programs/Tools: Microsoft Word 2010
Description: Design for a Fictional Fundraising Even using a Scanned Color Image for a full
bleed Ad using only Microsoft Word.
Process (Programs,Tools, Skills): The Ad is made using only Microsoft Word. I was using
Word 2010. It started with a scan of the photo which I found in a book of mine, Fantasy
Workshop, Published by ImagineFX. The image is a Digital Painting by Artist Lorland Chen. I
cropped the image and adjusted saturation and lighting to change the feel of it a little.I then
added the text as well as a transparency gradient to allow a better read for the text. After
some critiques, I reworked the design to what it is now.
Color scheme and color names: Analogous using Gold, Orange, and Brick.

Flier
Date: October 5, 2014
Programs/Tools: Adobe InDesign CC
Description: This is a Flier Project for my Comm 130 class with a specific amount of
information and design steps that had to be followed. The project is a Flier for a leadership
conference for graduating seniors.
Process (Programs,Tools, Skills): Through this process, I utilized the FOCUS process of
Formulating, Organizing, Contrasting, Unifying, and Simplifying. I made sketches with pencil and
paper, then started taking the most effective sketch and designing it out in Adobe InDesign.
After finishing the rough draft I met with several people both working on the same project as
well as those without the same knowledge about design to gain different points of view to get
a critique of my design. I took the critiques and ideas and revised my design to what it is now.
