Where could I get information about UTP and on admission matters?

How do I submit my application?
To apply, applicants need to follow the following steps:

Click application for UTP JULY 2015 Intake Foundation Programmes (Malaysian only) at the front page of
UTP website.
Then, read carefully and adhere to all the Important Notice and Documents/Guidelines required for
submission of application. Then, click to apply.
At the Application Portal, please ensure your level of Programme to apply as stated below:
For UTP Foundation Programmes (applicants with final/actual SPM results OR equivalent
qualification), please click on Application for Foundation (Local);
Once the online application is completed & submitted, applicants need to print the application and
submit together with other related documents to the Admission Unit, UTP (please refer to the
Guidelines to Submit Application).

What are the entry qualifications for admission into Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS?
Please refer to UTP website at www.utp.edu.my and click on Admission for information pertaining to Entry
Requirements. Minimum entry requirements are also attached at the Important Notice before applicants can
begin the online application through the Application Portal.

I will be getting my tertiary education final semester/end results after the closing date of UTP Online
Application JULY 2015 Foundation Programmes. Can I apply now using my current results and submit my final
semester/end results later to UTP?
Foundation Programmes NO, you have to apply using your FINAL (END) results (proof of completion need
to be submitted to UTP).

When and how would I know the status of my application?
Applicants who have submitted online applications can check their respective status of application through UTP
website www.utp.edu.my. Applicants are required to login as Existing Applicant through the Application Portal.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to UTP EduCamp (assessment) and after the EduCamp, applicants have to
check again their status at the Application Portal and successful Applicants will receive UTP Offer Letter package
via online.

Can I change the Programme offered to me by UTP?
Request for change of Programme prior to registration will NOT be entertained. However, students who have
registered in UTP may apply (through submission of form-UTP-REU-001) to Registration & Examination Unit
(REU), Registry Office and the approval is subject to various criteria including availability of placements and
approval by the respective Head of Department/s.

I am having difficulties to open UTP Admission Portal using Internet Explorer (IE) 10 and above, what should I
do?

What is the approximate cost (subject to changes) of study including accommodation for each course?

Credit hours rate for Foundation Programme is RM264 per credit hour.

When are we supposed to pay the tuition fee including accommodation?

Upon accepting the offer, students will be required to pay the registration fee within a stipulated time (will be
notified when accepting offer) as stated below:
RM2,900.00 for all Foundation students & Undergraduate Petroleum Geoscience, Information and
Communication Technology and Business Information System students.
RM230.00 for medical check-up (payable during registration at UTP).
Students will then be given until 2 weeks BEFORE the Final Semester Examination to make full payment on the
remaining tuition fees for the particular semester.
10. Is in-campus accommodation available?
YES. Students will be provided with accommodation and the current rate is at RM37.50 RM40.00 per week.
11. Does UTP offers come together with scholarship/sponsorship?
NO. UTP only offers placement for students to further their studies. However, there are certain UTP financial
assistance available for those who meet the requirements/criteria. Qualified students will be assisted by the
Sponsorship & Welfare Unit in applying for available sponsorship / financial assistance (PTPTN, JPA, MARA,
PETRONAS etc).
12. Is the PTPTN loan available after I have enrolled in JULY 2015 for Foundation Programmes?
YES. However, applications for PTPTN loan are subject to final approval by PTPTN. UTP will only assist and
coordinate all applications with PTPTN.
13. How can I apply for PETRONAS scholarship and study at UTP?
PETRONAS sponsorship is offered based on Actual/Final results (ie: SPM, STPM, Diploma, Matriculation etc).
Candidates including current UTP students need to apply directly to the PETRONAS Sponsorship & Talent
Sourcing Unit via online at www.spmonline.petronas.com.my when advertised. However, all applications are
subject to the criteria and final decision by PETRONAS Sponsorship & Talent Sourcing Unit.
