Jacksons visit to Tech builds on the role the Rainbow Push coalition played in helping to broker a landmark
partnership between OUSD and Intel. In May, Intel and OUSD announced they are expanding computer science
offerings in the District to create a technology jobs pipeline from Oakland public schools to Silicon Valley. Under
the five-year, $5 million pilot program, Intel will help develop curriculum, train teachers, provide computers, and
offer Internet access to 2,400 students at McClymonds High and Oakland Technical High School, with the
ultimate goal of sending 600 graduates from those schools onto college programs and careers in computer science.
Also in May, SAP launched a partnership with the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD), Berkeley
Community College (BCC), and the Career Ladders Project to create a pathway that lets students earn Associates
Degrees in business systems, information technology, and related fields by the time they graduate from Skyline
High. Participants in the program will also acquire technical skills, professional certifications, mentorship, and
workplace-learning opportunities that provide a substantial advantage when competing for advanced educational
programs and jobs in the highly competitive technology industry. #PUSHTech2020
