DOCKETING STATEMENT
Respondent Michael A. Dittmann, by undersigned counsel, now files this
Docketing Statement pursuant to Seventh Circuit Rules 3(c)(1) and 28(a).
This is an appeal from a final order (Dkt. 23) and judgment (Dkt. 24) of
this Court, the Honorable William E. Duffin, Magistrate Judge, presiding,
granting Brendan Dasseys petition for a writ of habeas corpus challenging his
custody under a Wisconsin state court judgment of conviction and sentence.
Brendan Dassey is confined at the Columbia Correctional Institution.
Michael Dittmann is Warden of the institution.
INFORMATION REQUIRED BY SEVENTH CIRCUIT RULE 28(a)(1)
This Courts jurisdiction was based on 28 U.S.C. 2241(a) and (c)(3) and
2254(a), which grant a district court authority to determine whether a state
prisoners custody under a state court judgment is in violation of the
Constitution, laws, or treaties of the United States, and U.S. Const.
amends. VI, XIV.

INFORMATION REQUIRED BY SEVENTH CIRCUIT RULE 28(a)(2)


The United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit has
jurisdiction to review the judgment of this Court under 28 U.S.C. 1291, 1294,
and 2253.
The order and judgment granting Dasseys habeas petition were entered
on August 12, 2016. (Dkts. 23; 24.)
Dittmanns Notice of Appeal was timely filed September 9, 2016,
concurrent with this Docketing Statement.
Dassey and Dittmann submitted filings on November 10, 2014, and
November 26, 2014, respectively, consenting to have Magistrate Judge Duffin
conduct all proceedings and enter the final judgment. (Dkts. 5; 9.)
