Guide For Catechists

This document from the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples provides guidance for catechists in mission territories. It discusses the identity and role of catechists, who make an indispensable contribution to spreading the faith. Catechists are called by the Holy Spirit and work under the direction of priests to announce the Gospel, prepare people for baptism and sacraments, and help communities grow in faith where there is a shortage of priests. The guide aims to renew the image of catechists and guarantee concerted growth in this vital sector of mission work. It covers topics like selection, formation, tasks, and economics and asks bishops, priests, and catechetical centers to use the guide.
