Description of Tool:
This tool is a blog for teachers and students. This can be used to safely communicate with
students using internet resources.
Purpose for Teacher:
The purpose of this blog site can be for students and teachers to be able to communicate without
being formal. It can be a different source for teachers to find out where students need help the
most or where they have the most problems. This can be a perfect way to get students to practice
writing more and expressing their feelings without being graded.
Purpose for Students:
Students can give feedback to the teacher about assignments or homework. Students can
communicate with each other and they can get help from each other without having to meet. If a
student is out for the day they can check the blog for homework and/or for notes.
Advantages:
The advantages of using the blog is to have a better communication with students (and parents).
Students can give their opinions about what they have learned in class, they can notify other
students about missed work. This blog also provides safety, as only those who have a password
can log in to use. Parents can also have access to the blog and can communicate with each other.
The teacher also can control what can or cant be posted on the blog. Safety lessons can be given
to help students learn the importance of online safety.

This tool has similar features as those in Facebook, which makes it easy to use for parents and
students. Student can use this to ask questions during assignments (and also keep track).
Purpose for Teachers:
This Web 2.0 is useful in allowing teachers to assign homework, make quizzes and groups for
students to learn. Its like having a digital classroom where students, fellow teacher, and parents
have access. It allows the teacher to keep track of homework and quizzes. Its like a Twitter or
Facebook in which the teacher can post links, files, and create a library with them. Edmodo also
has an option to give groups/students a badge, depending on their work. The badges include:
Student of the Month, Perfect Attendance, Participant award and more.
Purpose for Students:
This webpage can help students keep track of their homework, assignments, and more. Students
can receive help from other students and can do group work without having to leave home. This
can also help students post any questions they have about homework. They can also find links
that will help them complete their work.
Advantages:
This is a perfect app for parents to keep track of their students work. They can be up to date with
what the class is learning throughout the day and they can enforce it at night. The parents can use
their phones and have access to it all day. Teachers, students, and parents are in communication
with their own small social media.

Khan Academy is the educational YouTube. Students can find videos to help them learn more
about certain subjects while keeping track of their progress.
Purpose for Teacher:
This tool is useful to teachers because they can assign tasks that can help further explain lessons
they have learned in class. The teacher can assign each student a user name and login password
and keep track of their progress.
Purpose for Student:
This is helpful to students because they can see videos that can help them understand something
they probably didnt understand in the classroom. They can test their knowledge and practice
more and more on the subject they are having a hard time with.
Advantages:
The advantages with this application is that the teacher can pick the mission for students and
parents can also keep track of the progress. It can show the weaknesses and strengths, which can
give an insight to teachers and parents on what to focus more with the student.

Description of Tool:
This is a great tool to use when a teacher is creating a group project. More than one student can
be participating at one time. This can be a private project and only students can login in using
their passwords.
Purpose for Teacher:
Teachers can use this to announce and schedule projects. Students can have a heads up on due
dates and teachers can assess students engagement in real time.
Purpose for Student:
Wikispaces gives students the ability to participate in a group project without having to leave
home. Students will know in advance when their work is due and can find links and videos to
help them find more information. Students can also have discussions with other students about
any problems that come up.
Advantages:
This tool allows students to come together to create class projects. This is handy for parents who
have a busy life and are not always able to drive their kids to group meetings. Parents can also
see first-hand what their students projects are about. Letters can be sent to parents in English
and Spanish.

This is a fun interactive way to create a community out of a classroom. ClassDojo allows for
teachers, students, and parents to be interacted with one another and be involved without having
to be inside the classroom all day. Special moments can be shared with parents from both
students and teachers.
Purpose for Teacher:
This tool allows teachers to be in touch with parents in a fun and creative way. Teachers can send
messages to parents. Parents can keep track of their childs behavior and rewards. This is an easy
way for teachers to send group messages to parents and/or individual messages. Teachers can
give points to students based on positive and non-positive behavior.
Purpose for Student:
This tool is a fun way for students to share with their parents what they have done throughout the
day. Students can share pictures of their work, its a way of giving them more conversation topics
at the dinner table. This tool can be used in many different languages so the student can also
communicate in their native language.
Advantages:
The best advantage of this is how fun and friendly it is for students and parents to use. This tool
allows instant messages to be shared, photos, and work. Class stories can be shared with parents,
especially those who are not always able to make it to special events. Its a great way to remind
parents of upcoming events and holidays.
