Government Branches Lesson Plan

The lesson plan involves formative and summative assessments of students' understanding of the three branches of government. For the formative assessment, students will be provided visuals representing each branch and must verbally explain what each picture means and which branch it belongs to. Taylor may write or type answers if feeling anxious. For the summative assessment, students will create their own government tying in three branches with checks and balances, and Taylor can use technology and sit in comfortable chairs during the project. Performance will be evaluated based on a rubric.

Lesson Plan 1: Summative Assessment:
Summative assessment: At the end of the three weeks, students will create their own
government and tie three branches of government into their made-up government. They
will have to focus on having a system of checks and balances to ensure that their
government will run smoothly.
Accommodation: Taylor can use technology to create her government and can sit in the
comfy chairs in the room if she feels anxious or in danger.
