Sink and Float Lesson

The document provides a lesson plan for a preschool activity where students will make predictions and observe whether various objects sink or float in water. The objectives are for students to make predictions about which objects will sink or float, and to test objects in water to see if they sink or float, making observations. Assessment will include a checklist of students' predictions and recordings of their observations. Students will choose between center time or the sink/float activity. In groups of 2-4, they will predict and then test objects like feathers, pinecones, rocks, and paper to see which sink and which float.

Checklist of each student if they made predictions
The student will be able to make Recording of students observations with either words
predictions about which objects (scribbles) or drawings Procedural steps:
they think are going to sink or float
1. Have students choose if they want to do center time
The student will be able to test out or sink/float activity first
each object given to them to see 2. Have groups of 2-4 students doing activity at once
which ones sink and which ones 3. Explain that heavier objects are more likely to sink
float and make observations about and light ones are more likely to float
what they experienced Program Monitoring: (How will you aggregate or compile 4. Have students make predictions about which ones
your evidence into a class or group view? This is not how to they think will sink and float
