ABSTRACT
This study focuses on how to develop a more efficient
ice crushing machine that will enhance the features and uses of
ice crushers in the market. This machine consists of two crushing
stages with two different outputs (rock and coarse) that will meet
the market demands. The first stage includes the rakes which will
produce the rock crushed ice while the second stage uses burr
assembly to make coarse crushed ice. The machine is powered
by a single motor of 2hp driving two stages at a time. It can also
be operated independently by disengaging the clutch.
In order to accomplish the objectives, the following
research and development processes were done: preliminary
investigation, design, fabrication, testing and then evaluation.
With the aid of methods of designing available in books, the
structure of the mechanism was conceptualized.
The output of the study was the Mechanically Operated
Ice Block Mill, which can produce crushed ice for cooling and fish
preservation purposes.
