STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology,
Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student
inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take
thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving,
embrace collaboration, and work through the creative process.
What is the benefits of STEAM?
STEAM education helps to bridge the ethnic and gender gaps sometimes found in math and
science fields. Initiatives have been established to increase the roles of women and minorities in
STEAM-related fields. STEAM education breaks the traditional gender roles. In order to compete in
a global economy, STEAM education and careers must be a national priority. Each and every
decision made uses an aspect of STEAM to understand the implications.
