Difference INTRA and INTER Domain Routing

Intradomain routing refers to routing within an autonomous system (AS), which is a group of networks under a single administration. Each AS can choose its own intradomain routing protocol, such as distance vector or link state routing. Interdomain routing refers to routing between autonomous systems, using only one protocol like path vector routing to exchange information between different ASes.

INTRA- DOMAIN AND INTERDOMAIN ROUTING

Today, an internet can be so large that one routing protocol cannot handle the task of updating the
routing tables of all routers. For this reason, an internet is divided into autonomous systems. An

Autonomous system (AS) is a group of networks and routers under the authority of a single
administration. Routing inside an autonomous system is called intra-domain routing. Routing
between autonomous systems is called inter-domain routing
Intradomain routing :-
A. Routing inside an autonomous system
B. Each AS can chose its own intradomain routing protocol
C. Examples: distance vector and link state

Interdomain routing :-

a) Routing between autonomous systems.

b) Only one interdomain routing protocol is usually
used between ASs.
c) Examples: path vector
