MY DREAM VACATION
This is a dream come true!! I’m finally able to visit the country of my
dreams…. The United States of America (USA)!! Let me tell you why
the United States of America is a nice place to be vacationing in.
A physical feature of the USA is the Grand Canyon. It is a steep-sided
canyon carved by the Colorado River in the State of Arizona. It is
largely contained within the Grand Canyon National Park. Many species
of animals can be found in the Grand Canyon. There are tours which
takes you to most parts of the Grand Canyon and you would be able to
admire the wonderful canyon. You can take part in several activities,
such as rafting, hiking, running and helicopter tours. Those are
wonderful ways to explore the Grand Canyon.
Another physical feature is the Sonoran Desert. It straddles part of
the United Sates-Mexico border and covers large parts of the U.S
states of Arizona and California. The desert has a variety of interesting
plants and animals, such as the saguaro cactus.
The third physical feature is the Niagara Falls. They are voluminous
waterfalls on the Niagara River straddling the international border
between the Canadian province of Ontario and New York. The Niagara
Falls astound as with their beauty and they are a valuable source of
hydroelectric energy as the power of the waterfalls is really great.
From the U.S side, the falls can be viewed from walkways along
Prospect Point Park. The Niagara Scenic Trolley offers guided trips
along the Niagara Falls and around Goat Island. Panoramic and aerial
views of the falls can also be viewed from the Flight of Angels helium
balloon ride, or by helicopter.
The fourth physical feature is the Olympic Mountains. The mountain
range can be found on the Olympic Peninsular of western Washington.
The highest point of the mountain range is Mount Olympus, which has
eight glaciers. You can engage yourself in several activities. Such
activities include mountaineering and winter sports. You wouldn’t feel
bored at all. Engaging in these activities might be a truly exhilarating
experience and you will never forget the amount of fun you have here.
The fifth physical feature is Lake Tahoe. It is a large freshwater lake in
the Sierra Nevada Mountains of the USA. The lake is a major tourist
attraction and is home to a number of ski resorts, summer outdoor
recreation and tourist attractions. The lake is becoming increasingly
eutrophic (having an excessive richness of nutrients). Unlike other
lakes, Lake Tahoe never freezes as it warms annually. The warming is
caused primarily by increasing air temperatures, and secondarily by
increasing downward long-wave radiation. The warming trend is
reducing the frequency of deep mixing in the lake, and may have
important effects on water clarity and nutrient cycling. You can engage
yourselves in some activities, including winter sports, water sports,
hiking and bicycling. Lake Tahoe is a really nice place to spend your
holidays.
You can visit New York City. It is also known as the Big Apple. The city
has the largest population in the USA. In New York City, you can view
the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Midtown Manhattan and many
other interesting landmarks and places. New York City is a bustling city
and everywhere on the streets, you will definitely see clusters of
people. The city is very lively and I will definitely not feel lonely or
bored. There are lots of buildings in New York City, some of which are
really tall and others are short. The city prominently excels in its
spheres of art, cuisine, dance, music, opera, theater, independent film,
fashion, museums, and literature.
You can also visit the Statue of Liberty, which is found in the New York
Harbor. This statue is an evocation of Libertas, the Roman goddess of
freedom, who strides forward, trampling a broken chain and bearing a
torch and a tabula ansata (a keystone shaped tablet which evokes the
concept of laws), upon which is inscribed the date of American
independence. This statue symbolises freedom and democracy.
Visiting the Statue of Liberty gives you a sense of freedom and it is
really beautiful to look at. There’s a tour that takes you around the
inside of the statue. There is a museum in the statue that tells you the
history of the statue and one will benefit from this tour of the museum.
If you are lucky, you can travel all the way to the crown of the statue
and look at your surroundings. The view is simply MAGNIFICENT!!! You
will be able to look around you for miles and miles.
You should also visit the Empire State Building. It has 102 stories, one
of the tallest buildings in the world. It was the tallest building from
1931 to 1967 and the first building to have over a hundred stories. The
view from the top of the building must be fantastic and breath-takingly
beautiful!!
Another reason to visit the USA is to view the Brooklyn Bridge. It is
one of the oldest suspension bridges in the USA. It connects the New
York City boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn by spanning the East
River. The bridge has become an iconic part of New York the skyline.
The Brooklyn Bridge required of its builders’ faith in their ability to
control technology. The bridge is a symbol of optimism as it proved to
be one of the best technologies in the 1880s.
In the USA, you get to visit Times Square. It is a major commercial
intersection in the borough of Manhattan City, at the junction of
Broadway and Seventh Avenue. It is nicknamed as “The Crossroads of
the World” and “The Great White Way’. It has achieved the status of an
iconic world landmark and is a symbol of New York City and the USA.
Times Square is the only neighborhood with zoning ordinances
requiring building owners to display illuminated signs. Notable signage
includes the Toshiba billboard directly under the NYE ball drop and the
curved seven-story NASDAQsign at the NASDAQ MarketSite at 4 Times
Square on 43rd Street and the curved Coca Cola sign located
underneath another large LED display owned and operated by
Samsung. A few famous advertisements on Time Square are the Coca
Cola sign, Planet Hollywood and the Rock Hard Café New York. Times
Square is home to many shopping centers too, so you can actually
enjoy the different arrays of illuminated signboards and shop for
souvenirs too.
Those are only some places and landmarks to be seen in the USA. Be
sure to go there for there will be many other astounding places and
surprises awaiting you there!!!
