Formulas

1. This document discusses concepts related to the design and analysis of reinforced concrete structures. It defines terms like characteristic strength, design load, partial safety factors, stress-strain curves for concrete and steel. 2. Formulas are provided for calculating the depth of the neutral axis, compression force in concrete, tension force in steel, and reinforcement ratios for different failure modes. 3. The three failure modes discussed are under-reinforced, over-reinforced, and balanced sections. Formulas are given for determining the reinforcement required for an under-reinforced section.
