This document provides instructions for using a program to analyze and merge multiple Excel files. The program will analyze each file alphabetically, copy the contents of the first sheet, and paste the results into a designated Results section. The user can define the start and end columns to select from each file. Blank rows will be inserted between files as buffers, and the number of buffer rows can be specified. The merged files can include the original filename and buffer rows can be highlighted. Progress information will be displayed at the bottom left of the Excel window.

You are on page 1/ 7

Select as many excel files as you wish from the openDialog box.

This program will analyse each alphabetically. It will copy all of the contents of the first
sheet and paste the results into the Results section of this workbook.

The selection is defined by the start column and end column which the user can define.
For clarity all of the files that are merged have blank rows between them. This is defined by
the "Buffer Rows" number. For example if there are two files each of 10 rows then the first
file will appear from rows 1-10, row 11 is blank and the second file appears on rows 12-22.
(Note rows number might be relatviely different). It is possible to highlight the buffered rows
for clarity. They will appear as yellow. In additon you can include the filename in the merge.
This will make it easier to identify the data on the results page.

The diagnostics below are to aid the user when merging many large files
