Using Siemens NX 11 Software
Drafting
Based on a Catia tutorial written by Loïc Stefanski.
At the end of this manual, you should obtain the following part:
1 – Introduction.
Start NX 11 and open the file
C:\Commun\NX\angle_part.prt.
Open a new file (FileNew) and select the tab
Drawing in the dialog box.
Select the option A4 – Size.
Set the file name to drafting and set its folder.
Click OK to validate.

In the Populate Title Block dialog
box, put your name in the field
Draw By and press enter to validate
the field.
Finally, click Close.
2 – Creation of a new view.
In order to create a new view, click the button
Base View in the toolbar.
In the Base View dialog box set the field
Model View to Use to top and the field
Scale to 2:1.
Then, drag and drop the view as shown
here below and click left to validate.
You can move the drawing by selecting its
enclosing rectangle and clicking left and
then dragging the mouse.
Note: do not use the projected view.
Close the window immediately.

3 – Creation of the other view.
Redo the above operations for the front and
left views.

4 – Removing enclosing rectangles.
Rectangles enclosing the draft add confusion
most of the time. We will remove them.
Open the Drafting Preferences dialog
box by selecting
MenuPreferencesDrafting.
In the dialog box, select in the tree:
ViewWorkflow.
Under the field Border uncheck the
option Display.
Click OK to validate.
5 – Dimensioning.
Click on the button Rapid Dimension
in the toolbar and set the
dimensions as shown on the first figure
of page 1 of this tutorial.
