Crime Records

The proposed system aims to centralize crime records management across police stations in a country to facilitate fast and efficient information sharing. It will initially be implemented across cities and towns and later interconnected nationally. The system is designed with a distributed architecture and centralized database to generate information for proactive policing and preventive measures against crime.

Crime Records

Abstract:

The proposed system applies to Police Institutions all across the country and specifically looks into the
subject of Crime Records Management. It is well understood that Crime Prevention, Detection and
Conviction of criminals depend on a highly responsive backbone of Information Management. The
efficiency of the Policing function and the effectiveness with which it tackles crime depend on what
quality of information it can derive from its existing records and how fast it can have access to it.

It is proposed to centralize Information Management in Crime for the purposes of fast and
efficient sharing of critical information across all Police Stations across the territory. Initially, the system
will be implemented across Cities and Towns and later on, be interlinked so that a Police detective can
access information across all records in the state thus helping speedy and successful completion to
cases. The System would also be used to generate information for pro-active and preventive measures
for fighting crime.

The project has been planned to be having the view of distributed architecture, with centralized
storage of the database. The application for the storage of the data has been planned. Using the
constructs of Oracle 8i and all the user interfaces have been designed using the Java J2EE technologies.
The database connectivity is planned using the “JDBC Connection” methodology. The standards of
security and data protective mechanism have been given a big choice for proper usage. The application
takes care of different modules and their associated reports, which are produced as per the applicable
strategies and standards that are put forwarded by the administrative staff.
Existing System:

The flow of work in the current system is manual in nature. Which involves whenever a citizen
needs to complaint he must need to find the near police station and should write a letter and submit it
in Police Stations. Now the complaint will be forwarded to the next level officer, if it is legal the
corresponding complaint must be maintained manually. Similarly if the victim want to know updations
regarding the complaint, they need to approach the police station which involves manual work.

As we know manual work is error prone. Sometimes all the police in station may not be
coordinated properly to finish the work in time.

Proposed System:
 The system at any point of time can provide the details of the police stations and the
employees.
 The system at any point of time can provide the details of victims and the registered
FIR’s
 The system at any point of time can provide the details of evidence and their sequence
 The system at any point of time can provide the details of existing charge sheets and their
statuses.

Modules:

 This application is categorized into six modules

 1. Admin Module:

 This module is all about an Administrator. The administrator is having all authorities on
this application because he maintains this entire application. The Administrator can
register new police station, register new victims, register new victims F.I.R, register
crime charge sheet, register investigation. And he can delete all the details of victims, he
can view all online officers in the portal.

 2. Investigation Module:

 This module is related to Investigation. In this module Investigation Officer can view
F.I.R details, new victim’s details, witness details, evidence details, and charge sheet
details.

 3. Writer Module:
This module is related to Writer. In this module the duty of writer in the police station is
presented. The write can add new victim details, new investigation details, new witness
details, new evidence details, new crime nature details, and new Charge Sheet.

 4. Registration module:

 This module maintains the information about all the police stations that are registered as
per the jurisdiction of the system. It also gets integrated with the employees who are
working in these stations along with their designation.

 5. F.I.R Module:

 This module maintains the information related to the First Investigation Report of the
crime sequences that have taken place. The F.I.R registers all that a data that is
necessary for the investigation to take place in proper length. It identifies the crime
category and the crime nature.

 6. Evidence Module:

 This module makes a collection of information related to all the evidences that
become categorically important under the normal sequence of the investigation, this module
dynamically concentrates upon the changes that take place while the system of investigation is
under process.
