Facts: Ronald Galang, 20 years old, single and a resident of Barrio Talaan, Lian, Batangas, was accused of rape

but he alleged that he did not rape a certain Julia, which he said that she freely agreed to make love with him that
night of the wedding party at a house of a certain Celia. They were sweethearts for over two months. During that
night, Julia got mad because his friends were joking that he had affairs with another girl. When the party ended,
Ronald explained to Julia while walking her to her house. Convincing her to sit with on a log near the house of
Mario, they reconciled. The love making then began on the grass and he even discovered that evening that Julia
was a virgin because she bled. Upon knowing that, it worried Ronald but Julia said it was okay. After that, he
walked her up to about twenty meters of her house. Julia called the following day, insisting that he marry her
because she was afraid she might become pregnant. Ronald then refused the marriage, due to his obligations to
his parents, which encroach Julia and threatened to complain to her parents that he raped her. He still refused to
marry her which led to the Julia to file a rape case. Based on the statements of a legal examiner, Dr. Amado
Ampil, there were laceration of the cervix posterior portion and laceration of the vaginal canal posterior portion
but there were no other physical injuries.

Procedure: The information of Rape was filed before the RTC of Batangas City, wherefore, the court denied the
petition against the accused-appellant due to lack of merit. CA affirmed it.
