SETTING UP AUTOCAD
DRAWING ENVIRONMENT
Intended Learning Outcomes
Set up the correct settings of Autocad 2018
Use drawing settings and construction aids in setting up the
following:
-Grid Display
- Snap Mode
- Ortho mode
- Object Snap
- Drawing Units
. Use different ways in setting up the drawing environment of
Autocad
Drawing Grid/Grid Display
A regular pattern of dots displayed on the screen which act as
a visual aid, equivalent of having a sheet of graphing paper.
To turn of press F7
Snap Mode
Allows you pick up points which lie on a regular grid. The
grid spacing and snap spacing are usually set to same value to
avoid confusion. This makes you very easy to draw.
ORTHO MODE
Ortho mode is used when you specify an angle or distance by
means of two points using a pointing device. In Ortho mode,
cursor movement is constrained to the horizontal or vertical
direction relative to the UCS.
OSNAP ( OBJECT SNAP)
Are drawing aids which are used in conjunction with other
commands to help you draw accurately. Short cut key F8
Units
Determine the value of units within autocad before you draw.
Set UNIT TYPE & NUMBER OF DECIMAL PLACES for
object length & angle.
CIRCLE (use the following)
- 2 – point
- 3 – point
- Tan Tan Tan
Use OSNAP to connect the
circle precisely
ARC
