Questions for Matching Genogram

1. What is your family’s idea of a “good family?” What have you heard spoken of or
shared?
My idea of a good family is that the family members should do their duties and
responsibilities as a family member. They should bring the best out of each other and
they will support and there for you no matter what struggles you will encounter.

2. What is a good parent? From where do you hear this?

Good parents nurture their child/children. They give them their needs and teach them
valuable lessons that they will be able to use in their lives. They also support and always
are there for their child/children.

3. What is a good father/ mother? Husband/Wife?

Good father/mother gives what all their child/children needs, physically, emotionally
and spiritually while being a good husband/wife means you are giving what your partner
need, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

4. From all the above, what do you personally agree with? Something that if you had your
own family you will try to implement.
I personally agree that a good family should bring the best out of each other. If I will
have my family someday, I will teach them a lot of things and try to mold them in the
best person they can be.

5. What does your family talk about? What would your family dare not to talk about? What
topics does your family not talk about? Any explanation why this is so?
My family usually talks about how was our day. If there are conflicts between my
parents, they would try to fix it themselves and not open it to the whole family. I think
they intently not telling us because they don’t want us children to worry.

6. When was the last big crisis your family had? How was it resolved?
The last crisis we had as a family is last year. My parents try to ask for help from their
siblings and friends.
7. When are times you felt most happy about your family? How come?
The last time I felt most happy about my family was when I graduated last March.
We are having a fun time and telling each other a story.

8. With what things you can rely with your family?

You can rely anything to your family. The essence of a family is that they are always
there for you in good and in bad times.

9. What number are you among the children? Your experiences and feeling about this
position?
I am a middle child among three children. Being a middle child, I am expected to take
care of my younger sibling.

10. What type of person can really fulfill your needs?

The person who can fulfill my needs is someone who will always be there no matter what
happens. I will always listen to her and she will always listen to me.

Reflection Paper on
“AN ALTERNATIVE LIFESTYLE: THE FILIPINO FAMILY’S
RESPONSE TO THE CALL OF THE TIMES”
by Ruben M. Tanseco, S.J.

After reading the article, I realized that the family plays a vital role in making the
country better. We should start being a Christian in lifestyle and not just in name so that we can
become a vehicle of salvation. We should start the change now if we want to have a better
community, The Christian family style should have these three striking qualities – Stewardship,
Simplicity and Sharing.

Stewardship means we are just caretakers and not the owners. Everything that we
are as family, and everything that we have are not ours but God’s. Stewardship involves
responsible caring, dedicated service and deep compassion. We should start working for the
betterment of our community.

Simplicity means you are living simple. You don’t need the best things to have a
happy life. Healthy food need not be the best food and decent clothing need not be the most
expensive. All the things around you will soon perish when you die so you should do good things
that all people will remember you. Remember that moderation and balance would be the keys to
happy Christian life. We should learn to be more creative when we discipline ourselves to use
fewer things and possessions around us.

Simple living leads to greater sharing. If our needs and tastes are more simple,
then there will be more of ourselves and what we have that we can share with others, be it our
time, talents, resources, our very lives. The essence of living is being able to share others what
you have. It may be some valuable lessons or wisdom that you want to share to other people.
Remember to be a good example and role model for other families.
