Critical Path Method Problems

This document contains 4 pre-commencement assessment questions for a project management course. The questions provide activity information in tables and ask students to: 1) compute the project completion time, critical path, and floats for a 12 activity building project; 2) determine the critical path and total duration for a 10 activity building project; 3) draw a network diagram and find the completion time based on expected times for 10 activities; and 4) draw a network diagram and find the completion time for a project with 11 activities. Students are asked to show their work.

CM 764: Advanced Concepts in Project Management

MBA CPM (4 th Semester)

1. A building project consist of 12 activities. The normal duration required to perform various
activities and the relationship among the activities are given below:
Activity A B C D E F G H I J K L
Predecessor - - A A B B C C D E F G,H,I, J
Duration (in 7 5 10 5 8 6 5 4 10 5 8 9
weeks)

Compute (i) the project completion time, (ii) the critical path (iii) the total float and free float
for each activity.
2. A building project consist of 10 activities as listed in following table. Normal duration of each
activity along with preceding are also given.

Draw the network and determine the critical path and the total project duration.

3. With the help of data given below draw the network diagram and find the project
completion time based on expected time.
