BWS double continuous centrifugals – double centrifuging for effortlessly optimal results
Double continuous centrifugals
The patented Buckau-Wolf double continuous centrifuge system combines four successive process
steps: 1st centrifuging – mixing – 2nd centrifuging – melting. This type of centrifugal is the world-
wide front runner for the processing of raw sugar and low-grade massecuites from sugar beet
and sugar cane. The double continuous centrifugal is also used for white sugar massecuite which
will be further processed.
Design features and advantages
Advantages over the conventional process with
two continuously running centrifugals
Space-saving
Energy saving of approx. 50%
Continuous and automatic control of the
massecuite proportional to the auxiliary
media
The centrifuged sugar skips a boiling step
Less crystal damage (approx. 10%) through
omission of a mixing stage and a pump
Outstanding product quality with approx.
96% colour removal
Housing
Distortion-resistant and stable design
Easy access to both baskets, for example
when changing top screens
Installation of sampler connecting sleeves at
the operator’s platform
BWS double continuous centrifugals – maximum reliability with minimum maintenance

Vacuum pans with honeycomb calandria
A special advantage of the honeycomb is that it can be relatively easily retrofitted in existing sys-
tems (ribbon, lenticular, tubular calandria etc.)
Pan station with honeycomb calandria, the idea came from nature
Advantages of the honeycomb calandria
Largest possible heating surface with com-
pact over-all dimensions
Smallest possible incrustation area at the
upper side of the calandria (75 % less than
for a tubular calandria)
Saving of steam for steaming out the pan of
the same order of magnitude
Excellent flow conditions guarantee
a homogenous massecuite
Dead zones and local overheating reduced
to a minimum
BWS honeycomb calandrias – hexagonal, well-rounded for optimal results
