NA.2 Nationally Determined Parameters

NA.2.1 Assignment of loads to load-duration classes
[BS EN 1995-2:2004, 2.3.1.2(1)]
Variable actions due to the passage of vehicular and pedestrian traffic
should be regarded as short-term actions.
Actions occurring during erection should be regarded as short-term
actions.

NA.2.2 Partial factors for material properties

[BS EN 1995-2:2004, 2.4.1]
BS EN 1995-2:2004, Table 2.1 is implemented nationally by using
Table NA.1.

Table NA.1 Partial factors γM for material properties

Fundamental combinations Solid timber – untreated γM = 1,3
Solid timber – preservatively treated γM = 1,3
Glued laminated timber γM = 1,25
LVL, plywood, OSB γM = 1,2
Connections γM = 1,3
Shear connectors between timber and concrete in composite members γM,v = 1,25
Steel used in composite members γM,s = 1,15
Pre-stressing steel elements γM,s = 1,15
Concrete used in composite members γM,c = 1,5
Fatigue combinations Timber and wood-based materials γM,fat = 1,0
Connections γM,fat = 1,0
Shear connectors between timber and concrete in composite members γM,v,fat = 1,0
Accidental combinations All materials γM,acc = 1,0

NA.2.3 Limiting values for deflections

[BS EN 1995-2:2004, 7.2]
BS EN 1995-2:2004, Table 7.1 is implemented nationally by using
Table NA.2.

Table NA.2 Limiting values for deflections of beams and trusses

Action Limiting value for deflections in
beams and trusses of span, l
Characteristic traffic load l/400
Pedestrian load and low traffic load l/200
--`,``,,``,,`,,`,`,,,,,,,,,,,`,,-`-`,,`,,`,`,,`---

NA.2.4 Damping ratios [BS EN 1995-2:2004, 7.3.1(2)]

Where no other values have been verified, the damping ratio (ζ) should
be taken as:
ζ = 0,010 for structures without mechanical joints;
ζ = 0,015 for structures with mechanical joints.
