Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
Engagement: Students will have the chance to join into a class-wide review on the Socrative gaming
section. We will be playing space race to try and review before the assessment. Students will also have the
opportunity to make a graphic organizer with all of the information as a referral while practicing.
Representation: Students will have access to this information on the computer and from their books. WE
will review the book, which has diagrams and written representation of the topic. Then, we will work on
Socrative, which is an online and game-like representation.
Action and Expression: Students will be working on clickers. If they get a problem wrong or want to re-take
the formative assessment, they will have the option to make a drawn representation of information. This
will act as a correction for the student.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Students will be reviewing from their book about government. We will then have a class discussion about
important branches of government and take a special focus on the Executive Branch and what that entails.
From there, we will move to our Socrative review to practice and then take a formative assessment.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Student Response and Assessment Tools
Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:
First, we will play space race to review the material about the executive branch of government on city, state,
and national level. Then, students will take the formative assessment on their devices and be given
immediate feedback.
Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
NA
Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
☐ Yes ☐ No
☒ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
I think students will do well with immediate feedback. It will stick in their minds longer and even jog their
memory in the future.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
We will go through the answers as a class and have an open discussion with any of their confusions, worries,
or concerns about the topic.
How will the data be used?
The students will be given feedback and know what they did wrong, in order to do corrections. Students will
be given a grade but will be allowed to do corrections to make up for it. Parents will be informed about the
activity and standard on my teacher blog. They will encouraged to ask their children about what they have
learned.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
I like the idea of student response tools and have never used them. So, this will allow me to work WITH my
students while assessing and going over the answers, rather than them having to wait a week for a grade and
forgetting everything.
Reflective Practice: I think this is a great resource. Students love having an active role in learning and love it
even more when they get to use a clicker! I will try to have access to these, when I become a teacher. I really
want to become great at incorporating technology into assessment.
