Introduction to Remote Sensing and Its Applications
Shivangi Somvanshi (M.Tech) specialized in Environmental Engineering
from Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow. Her early
experience of remote sensing began with a project at Remote Sensing
Application Centre – Uttar Pradesh and was furthered by commercial
experience of applied photo-interpretation. Throughout her journey of
remote sensing her interest in the exploitation of satellite data for the solution of a
wide range of practical problems has steadily grown. This interest in remote sensing
continued when she began university teaching and led to her appointment as the
member of initial working group of Amity Institute of Geo-Informatics and Remote
Sensing. She has 5 years of teaching and research experience in GIS and Remote
Sensing. She has written a number of reports and published several research papers
in national and international conferences/journals. She is actively engaged in the use
of remote sensing for environmental monitoring of protected landscapes.
Maya Kumari, (M.Tech) specialized in GIS and Remote Sensing technology
from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi and master’s degree in
Environmental Science from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India.
She has 4 years of teaching and research experience in GIS and Remote
Sensing. Her specialization is the theory and practice of global positioning
and navigation system, digital image processing and spatial data modeling. She has
published several research papers in national and international conferences/journals
related to the field of Remote Sensing and GIS.
