I. Course Description:

This is a one-semester course that builds on the basic management concepts, developed in
the principles of management course. This course introduces students to many of the
basic principles of human behavior that effective managers need when managing
individuals and groups in organizations.

II. Course Objectives:


Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
 Describe specific theories related to perception, learning, motivation, leadership,
job design, and organizational change.
 Discuss individual differences with team members and create action plans to
productively address differences.
 Describe and evaluate methods of motivating and rewarding individuals and
groups.
 Identify appropriate decision making tools and models for various circumstances.
 Integrate individual, group, and organizational level concepts.
 Identify the organizational behavior concepts and theories present in real
business world examples.

Judge (14th / 13th edition), Published by Prentice –Hall India,
2005, ISBN 81-203-2875-2.

 MIT Sloan Management Review, MIT Press.
 Economist Weekly, Business Section etc.

IV. Course Grading Policy

a. It is the policy of the instructor to grade all student performance through
examinations, class participation in discussions, individual and / or team
presentations, short or major papers requiring research or analysis, and
other appropriate means. Individual discussions of the reading material
may be held at the discretion of the instructor.
b. Unless otherwise indicated, each student is evaluated on the basis of his
or her work-product.

c. Grading Criteria:

 Quizzes (N-1) 10
 Assignments 15
 Mid Term Examinations 25
 Final Exam (in class, close book) 40
