Guidelines for Poster Preparation
Title Banner
Title banner should show the following:
Title – the letterings should have a height from 15mm (minimum) to 20mm
(maximum). The title should not occupy an excessive amount of space.
Name of Authors – this includes the student/s and their adviser/s. The letterings
should have a height of 10mm. The name of the students should be written in
alphabetical order (First Name MI. Family Name). The name of the adviser
(WITHOUT THE PhD, MSc) should be written after the students preceded by
the word “and”.
Department of affiliation – Include the complete address (example: Department of
Biological Sciences, College of Science, University of Santo Tomas, Manila
1015). It should have the same size as the Name of Authors. (if the address of
any of the authors is different, write also their address)
Logo – There should only be two logos in the poster; UST (new logo) and the
College of Science. The UST logo should be on the left (if facing the poster)
and the College of Science logo on the right (if facing the poster)
Contents
In general, the text should be clear and concise. Use graphs and illustrations
generously. Text should be at least 10 mm high; it should be readable from a
distance of 2 meters.
Posters should contain sections devoted to the following:
Introduction – should include the background information, statement of the
problem, the significance /relevance of the study, the objectives must be clearly
stated
Methodology – systematic presentation of the methodology, preferably in schematic
diagram, flowcharts, etc.
Results and Discussion – use diagrams and tables as much as possible for the
results, the discussion is an in depth analysis and interpretation of findings.
Conclusion / Recommendation – should answer the objective/s of the study
Acknowledgement – if the adviser is written as one of the authors, do not write his
name in the acknowledgement. If some of the work is done outside the college,
acknowledge the institution where the work was done.
Poster Layout and Printing (BRING THIS INSTRUCTION TO THE PRINTER TO
PREVENT MISTAKES IN PRINTING)
Use the appropriate foreground / background combination (example: dark colored
text on light colored background or light colored text on dark colored background).
Ask your printer for available software and appropriate versions that you can use for
your poster layout. ALWAYS BRING A BACK UP FILE SAVED ON A DIFFERENT
DISK / FLASH DISK / CD / ETC. WHEN YOU GO TO THE PRINTER!

paper that you will

q Image Size: 44 x 34 inches - this will allow a 1 inch margin on all sides
q Resolution: at least 72 dpi for Adobe Photoshop
q Material: photopaper
