Dear School Administrator,


Thank you for considering me as a candidate to teach in your school district. I am applying for this
position with significant interest. I am currently a senior at Dakota State University and will be
graduating May of 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in technology.
I am completing my year-long student teaching experience in Brookings, South Dakota at Camelot
Intermediate School. My student teaching experience in a 5th grade math mass customized learning
classroom has been a beneficial experience to develop professionally. This phenomenal experience
created positive relationships with both the students and my cooperating teacher. Student teaching has
been an experience with considerable growth and I look forward to continuing this growth. Working
with students in whole group and individual instruction is necessary for all students to reach their full
potential. I will incorporate many different teaching strategies to ensure that my students are able to
learn in the style that best fits them.
There have been many opportunities for me to work with children outside of the classroom. In high
school I took a class that allowed me to work in a 1st grade classroom in Brookings. I was also provided
the opportunity to complete my practicum at the Madison Middle School. While I was there I was in
both a math and science classroom. I also volunteered in Madison at the afterschool program. Prior to
student teaching I participated in a three-week Practicum at the Colman Egan School District. In Colman
I had the opportunity to teach science every other day and taught a math lesson.
