obvious and easy access location. They should be on the device and nonflammable liquid
storage cabinet (room) nearby, or to comply with local fire regulations require.
Ventilation
In order to prevent the danger caused by volatile gas accumulation, working area must have
sufficient ventilation to ensure every 1 hour replacing the air of the working area of about 6
to 8 times, vents should be low enough so that gas cannot accumulate on the floor near the
volatile.

7
When the media gets through of drying devices, because ink solvents are volatile, so need an
emission system

Note:
Solvent gas’ specific gravity is greater than air, it would accumulate near the floor.

4-6 System maintenance

Print head status

Click the print head status menu, the following pattern will be printed

Figure 1
This pattern shows the working condition of each nozzle and the adjustment effect of hardware
distance of print head. The partial enlarged view of the test pattern as shown in figure 2.

21
Figure 2
The serial number shown in the pattern indicate that this pattern is printed by related print head,
each dotted line in the pattern shows the picture printed by the first nozzle in each print head, the
equidistance between each dotted line and lines next to it shows the hardware location of print
head. If the distance between them is not equal, you should adjust the hardware for group print; or
you should adjust the Y-orientation color difference for individual print, this related content will
be illustrated in following color correction.

Stepping adjustment

It will be different when you use different print mode for the relation of the stepping difference, it
result from the difference between coefficient of Y-movement and absolute volume of system or
mechanical difference, so , in general, you should adjust the step value of each print mode
separately. Click the stepping adjustment in the print text menu and choose the print mode you
want to revise in the submenu of each print mode and revise it.
Measure the length of the practical print stepping picture, and fill the value into the practical data
frames of relevant print mode.
Figure 4

Figure 3

Color correction excursion

In order to make the content of every print head coincide to each other, we have to adjust color
correction excursion of each print head. Generally speaking, it is no same at different direction, so

22
we’d better adjust it based on direction.
Click the menu item of print color correction and print the relevant correction diagram. This
diagram makes up the correcting unit, according to the direction and print head. Each unit in the
figure can correspond to the color correction parameter of each print head, according to color and
indicated direction of this line and serial number of print head.

Figure 5
Read out the relevant direction deviant of the print head from the correcting unit in the printing
picture when you do the adjustment. The way is, there are tens digit area and units digit area in the
figure marked by relevant figure. The black line is datum line, find out the relevant color line
which coincide the datum line best, plus the numerical value indicated by these two lines and you
can get the deviant. When the value is greater than 10, you should correct the tens digit excursion
firstly, and reprint the correct figure to correct the units digit excursion for convenience. But,
generally speaking, the value will be less than 10 because we have the standard excursion
parameter for related device in system. So you can read out all the color correction excursion
value one time. Plus the vale to excursion parameter and fill in the excursion form related print
head, as shown in this figure.

This printing picture can also show the excursion at y-axis direction, as the gradient line shown in
the delineation part of the picture.

Figure 6
If the current mode of print head is separate print, you can revise the y-axis deviation, and others
can be revised only by adjust the position of print head. The procedure you read the deviation
value is : choose the horizontal line which is coincide the datum line best in the picture, and
multiply the value of units digit corresponding to this line by 48, you can get the deviate, and fill
this value into y-axis direction deviation value box. You can choose the value within 48 to proceed
a fine tuning.

23
Come and go difference

Because of the different print speed, there will be a position gap when you use the bi-directional
printing. So, you should revise the come and go difference. Choose the related speed difference in
the print test menu, it will print the correct picture shown as following.

Figure 7
We have the same way to read the come and go difference like color correction excursion. Read
the tens digit excursion first, and units digit excursion then, plus the excursion value with the
value in the difference value box and fill what you get into the value box.

Explain the part of the come and go difference print picture account for the way to read the value,
as shown picture 8.

Figure 8
The edge of the black bloc is not aligning, which proves the existence of come and go difference.
Compare the datum line with every reading line, we can find out that line -3 is the best line
coincide with the datum line, so, we can plus -3 and the value of current speed, and we can get a
new come and go difference.
