1 What is Okta?

Okta is the identity management in the cloud. It provide a safe and secure way to store your credentials for
cloud-based applications. No longer will you need to remember or manage different passwords for the
applications you use every day. Okta’s architecture means that all you need to do is sign on with one
password, one time and let Okta manage the rest.

2 What does this mean for me?


When you sign on to Okta, you will have access to not only your company’s applications, but also the ability
to add additional applications you use on a daily basis. You can then organize your applications on your
own Okta homepage through the use of our tabbed interface. Place your work applications under one tab,
your personal applications under a second tab, and so forth.

3 Where can I use Okta?


The advantage to using Okta is that you can access all of your applications from any device whether you’re
in or out of the office. You will be able to access your applications anywhere an Internet connection exists.

3.1 On the Network


When you are in the office, you can access your cloud applications from any computer running a supported
browser. Okta supports Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Chrome browsers. You only need to sign on
to your network as Okta will not require you to sign on a second time to access your applications.

3.2 Off the Network


When you are not in the office, you can still access your applications from anywhere there is an Internet
connection. Okta enhances security with the inclusion of Multi-Factor authentication. MFA is an additional
challenge to your normal sign on credentials by asking for a security token value or a correct answer to a
challenge question you previously configured. Okta supports a number of MFA factors, we in VSO will be
using; Okta Verify, Security question and sometimes SMS messaging. On the Go with Okta Mobile

Download the Okta mobile application from your application store and access your applications from you
iOS or Android device. Okta Mobile allows you to access your applications from your mobile device with a
4-digit pin code, so you still get the security of single sign on from your mobile device.
