My thoughtful nature has concluded one belief to success in all aspects of life that “Think

emotionally and act practically”. My nature of in-depth thinking made me to take Computer Science
& Engineering as my undergraduate option because this is the field that is without boundaries and
allows to solve complex and challenging problems and thereby makes positive difference in the
world.

Since childhood I was interested in computer. I realized that we can do many things by just using
computer appropriately. So from that I chase my dream to become an engineer in computer
science.It is a privilege for me to have been brought up in a family where education is always a
prominent aspect.

Academics has always been my strong-hold. Throughout 12 years of schooling, I had always been
among the top ranking students in the class. Due to my excellent grades achieved during my
schooling I was able to choose esteemed M.S.University for my undergraduation in computer
science & engineering. The excellent course structure coupled with high academic standards further
stimulated my interest in scientific pursuit. My approach towards courses is to capture and imbibe
the fundamental concepts and to integrate the same with the real life applications. My long term
career objective is to pursue a career, either as a faculty in a university or as a researcher in industry
and graduate study in Computer Science at your department would be the first step towards this
goal.

Over the past three years in Computer Science I have developed a special interest in Programming
Languages, Database Management Systems and Operating Systems. These subjects have fascinated
me the most during my study. I have taken System Networking as an elective subject during my last
year of college and found it very interesting.

I have done many projects as part of my course. I did “MULTIPLEX BOOKING SYSTEM” in C++ using
concepts of OOPs. I have also done project “E-SHOPPING” using Java as Front End and MS-Access as
Back End. I also made project “HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM” using java as front end and Oracle
database as back end. I also made “CHESS” game in computer graphics, which is implemented in C-
graphics. As a part of my final year project I prepared an Automated System for Training and
Placement Cell in ASP.NET . Through this system we automated the task of placement process which
includes sending invitation to several MNC’s Companies, shortlisting students depending on their
criteria and sending email to shortlisted candidates. Our project also includes new updates facility in
which companies can view latest updates and send any important information by login into it. I have
been actively involved in various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. I have regularly
participated in Elocution and Dramatics competitions.

After completion of my under-graduation, I wanted to experience the real world industrial scenario
to gain a better understanding of the nuances of the Software Industry. So I took the job offer from
XYZ company and during my experience of 18 months, I completed several project for XYZ Bank as a
client with Java and Oracle database as technology. I was excited that I was given top rating and was
awarded the full performance incentive. In a company that employs over a hundred thousand
employees from all across India, it has a unique culture of its own; the knowledge and wisdom I’ve
gained through my interactions here has given me a much deeper insight. With a brief industry
exposure, I understood I was yet far from concluding my journey as a student.
I have always had a strong inclination towards technology and have been engaged in delivering
solutions using technology in my academic and extracurricular activities. I believe as a next step to
take my education and zeal to higher level, I need to study further and pursue a Masters degree and
contribute a minimum of 5 research papers in span of 3 years. The Electronic teaching research
cluster and its Centre of Knowledge Communication research group exactly match my research
interests. I believe I cannot find a better platform to further my learning than this.

There are two reasons why I believe that graduate study in a reputed department is important for a
person aspiring for a research career. Firstly, working under the guidance of an expert is the most
effective method of transforming a student into an independent researcher making significant
contributions in his field. Secondly, the emphasis of graduate study on intensive and independent
study of a specialized area is an ideal way of making a student capable of reaching the frontiers of
knowledge. Research calls for strong motivation, creativity, sound knowledge of fundamentals and
complete dedication to the work on hand. I humbly and honestly believe that I have these requisite
abilities. These facts, coupled with my keen interest in the field of Computer engineering, have made
a Masters program in Computer Engineering an absolute necessity for me.
Thirty years from now, I want to be able to look back at the accomplishments of my life and feel a
sense of satisfaction and pride. I want my work will make significant impact in my field and also on
the society. Over the past three years, I have become absolutely convinced that the path towards
this goal will involve leveraging my current skills and abilities to make significant contributions to
improve the understanding of systems and concepts in the field of Computer Science. Six or seven
years from now, I see myself as part of a leading research group, contributing my bit to the field of
Computer Science.

Now, in order to pursue and sustain a career in the field of Computer Science, I must build a strong
academic foundation. It is my strong belief that U.S.A. possesses a highly advanced technology and
hence the engineering scientists there are able to dream big, think big and build big. I am convinced
from the graduate school bulletin and the departmental web pages that the Computer Engg. Dept.
at the ------------------- university is just the right place to strengthen my research fundamentals. The
distinguished faculty, research facilities, guest speakers and a constant interaction with the industry
are some of the features of the ------------------- university that have excited me no end. It would be
a matter of pride for me to be a part of this “Technological Juggernaut”

I hope that, with all of the above in mind, I shall be found a suitable candidate for admission to the --
-----------University. I believe that, with the valuable support and guidance of your accomplished
faculty, I shall be successful in the fulfillment of my objectives.
