Introduction
Poverty has become a great issue in our world. Through many organizations have been created to find
solutions for this matter nobody could not save our world completely from poverty. Most common fact
which we can realize when we consider on information about poverty is that poverty mostly occurring in
developing countries according to the Borgen Project reasons for poverty is history, war and political
instability, national debts. Discrimination and social inequality and vulnerability to national disasters.
Poverty is the significant lack of money or poorness. Precise definitions of poverty are controversial;
According to one definition, poverty is having a little money that one cannot pay for basic necessities
such as food and shelter. According to sociologist study the effects of poverty and why. Many surveys
have been done in order to calculate the accurate number of people who are suffering from the
poverty. Poverty is eradicated when there is a surplus in the economy and you allow for wealth
inequality. Poverty is often the results of personal failure but is also the results of bad luck. The
Philippine is a country located in Southeast Asia comprised of more than 7,000 islands. Poverty has
proven to be one of the most significant challenges facing the country and its citizens. Filipino are having
a hard time surviving in such difficult conditions, and more and more are falling into extreme poverty.
According to the Asian Development bank, the major causes of poverty include: low economic growth, a
weak agricultural sector, increased population rates and a high volume of inequality. Because of these
factors, there are a lot of effects of poverty. Philippines that make it difficult for people to live in such
circumstances. Poverty and inequality in the Philippines remains a challenge. In the past four decades,
the proportion of households living below the official poverty line has declined slowly and unevenly.
Economic growth has gone through boom and bust cycles, and recent episodes of moderate economic
expansion have had limited impact on the poor. Great inequality across income brackets, regions, and
sectors, as well as unmanaged population growth, are considered some of the key factors constraining
poverty reduction efforts. The report comprehensively analyzes the causes of poverty and recommends
ways to accelerate poverty reduction and achieve more inclusive growth. In the immediate and short
term there is a need to enhance government's poverty reduction strategy and involve key sectors for a
collective and coordinated response to the problem. In the medium and long term the government
should continue to pursue key economic reforms for sustained and inclusive growth.
Body
The rich middle class and poor; are described by the way we live and the amount of money one has.
There are many different ways of describing what poverty is whether it is by how you live or how much
money you have. It is difficult for people for people to live in such circumstances, the cause of poverty in
the Philippines are mainly Malnutrition in the Philippines hunger is one of the extreme effects of poverty in
the Philippines. With little money to buy food Filipinos have to survive on very limited food; even when
food supplies are stable, they are most accessible in other areas where people have enough income to
purchase food. And such an unequal distribution of income, there is a low deem and for food supplies in
less developed areas that are home to low-income residents. The quality of food is also decreasing rice
used to be the main source of food for Filipinos, but now it has largely been replaced with instant noodles,
which is cheaper but less nutritious. And as results of malnutrition has become a lot more common. Child
labor parents often can’t make enough money to support their families; children then have to be taken out
of school to work in harsh condition. Statistics show that around 3.6 million children, from 5-17 are child,
child laborers in the Philippines. This is 15.9 percent of the entire populations. Luck of quality education in
1995 higher education task force showed generally poor performance of college graduates in the various
professional board examinations. Task force only found that 20/1000 universities/college to be recognized
as good teaching institutions by a sample of selected countries. In 2005 the Philippines spent only about
US $ 138 per pupil compared to US $ 1,582 in Singapore, US $ 3,728 in Japan, and US $ 852 in Thailand
Lack of Jobs the Social Weather Stations (SWS), a survey group found that 11 million people 27.9
percent of the adult labor force (over 18 years) were unemployed. The government estimated that
935,700 workers are at risk of losing their jobs both locally and abroad this year. Over 362,000 jobs in the
export sector are under threat- 90 percent of those are in the electronics garments and ignition wiring
sub-sectors. More than 500,000 overseas jobs are under threat. Corruption in the Philippines is very
prevalent. It is considered normal for high government officials to get very rich during their tenure of office
and then their spouse. Children on their relatives will run for an elective position if they can no longer run
for office and the process of taking over and corruption goes on. Natural Calamities, Natural Calamities
are very dangerous and cause. Millions worth of damage to property an example of which Typhoon
Ondoy this damaged P108.9 million worth of infrastructure and affected about 90.000 families the
Department of agriculture also cited that crop losses have reached P3.2 billion: Overpopulation the
Philippines population growth rate is 2.36% per year. A rapidly growing population also makes it difficult
for the government to keep up with the delivery of what are already deficient public services in health,
education, water supply and sanitations and so on. The empirical record shows conclusively that longer
that larger families are more likely to be poor family planning and religion. This is a big problem because
these families only earn very have to use this to feed. Crime and Thievery people often resort to Crime
and thievery to survive. Research found that one of the overwhelming reasons to steal is due to
difficulties caused by poverty. Without proper employment, people turn to stealing, especially since family
sizes are rather large, and there are a lot of people to provide for. As a result it is important to understand
the effects of poverty in the Philippines because it is a country in need of assistance (McCall
Robinson) Inability to afford housing poverty plaguing the country and employment opportunities being
scarce; many Filipinos are unable to afford housing which puts then in danger of turning to the
accommodation. Effects on society as a whole poverty is a major cause of social tensions and threatens
to divide a nation because of the issue of inequalities, in particular income inequality. This happens when
wealth in a country is poorly distributed among its citizens. In other words, when a tiny minority has all the
money. The Causes of Poverty remains a mainly rural phenomenon though urban poverty is on the rise,
strongly linked to educational attainment, a large families with more members of the family. And also lack
of education in the Philippines with more members are unemployed and under graduate and lastly weak
local Government capacity for implementing poverty reduction programs and lack of support of the
Government. Increasing the number of organizations which are working to reduce poverty by educating
people of developed countries to be organized and to take actions related to this matter is also another
suggestion of mine. Encouraging people who have volunteered to provide facilities such as pure water,
foods filled with nutrients, living places to poor people and who’re conducting charity services to develop
the lives of them, by offering special rewards and admiring them in various ways would be a good way to
increase the number of voluntary workers. So I believe my opinions and suggestions would be a good
help to conclude poverty. Because of poverty, many families are forced to occupy public and private lands
without the right to do so. And, because this land is not theirs, it tends to overcrowd. Because of
overcrowding, the environment usually becomes unsanitary and heightens the chances that disease will
spread. Also, their houses are close together/connected to each other, this makes it easy for fire to
spread and giving fire fighters a hard time to extinguish the flames due to the small roads between these
houses. Due to the hardships in life caused by poverty, many people can’t even get enough money to
live. This causes them to do whatever it takes to be able to sustain their and their family’s need even
when it involves stealing. The researchers observed that the major reason for theft is poverty. Because of
poverty, the thieves need to steal to be able to live.
Conclusion
Poverty has become a great issue in the world. Through many organizations many experts made a
research on how to solve it. To find solutions for this matter nobody could not save our world
completely from poverty. The most common fact which we can realize when we consider on
information about poverty is that poverty is mostly occurring in developing countries. Most
community of the Philippines is graving. Therefore we have been able to learned that poverty is one of the
major issues in the world that need to be address quickly in the poorest villages in which thousands of
people are dying, and most of these people are children’s. We have learned that poverty refers to the
condition of not having the means to afford basic human needs such as clean water, nutrition, healthcare,
clothing, food, and a place to live, poverty is a deadly issue that’s killing our population slow and that we
as the affected ones need to take actions against it. We have also learned that poverty that affect mostly
poor people, because of the little resources they have, this means that poverty is an issue that’s harming
poor people that want to get out of poverty, but they can’t because they don’t have the support of rich
people. Even though there are a lot of people trying to stop poverty, it is impossible to stop it without the
support of rich countries, this is because to fight poverty we have to fight it with a lot of money and their
only a few countries that could support us with this need. Something else that we have learned is that
poverty today is looking worst then when it first started; millions of kids are living on piles of trash dying of
starvation. The reason there are so many people living in poverty is because millions of other people are
spending money in things they don’t need. (Article wave) this leads us to the effects of this issue that are
deadly illnesses that make people fall and give up on their life, we learned that poverty lead people to
abuse of drugs or to abuse of other people. And even though many people support the idea of helping
those people who live in poverty, there are also those that don’t support people who are trying to stop
poverty. And the most important thing that we have all learned from this research is that poverty can be
stop, but to be able to stop it we must all support each other, with no hate or anything that could harm us.
So for those that are willing to help don’t help because you feel pressure, do it because you want to and
your heart is telling you to do it. But sad to say that until now it is still in the stage of calamity. Poverty
happens everywhere they think cities may offer them a better off living they think they’ll be much better off
living in the cities than in their own villages which only offer them natural resources. Therefore I conclude
that poverty is the main problem of the Philippines not only in the Philippines but also in other countries.
We can prevent poverty by donating food and clothes, adopting children, have fun dressers and many
more things that can be done. Poverty cannot be solved but we can minimize or prevent if we are
responsible in any aspects. Where does poverty start? What can you do about poverty? How do you get
out of poverty? As a young student I would like to suggest some factors which would be helpful in our
journey to reduce poverty. Basically we have to take necessary steps to reduce the population in our
world. Natural resources don’t increase according to the population which is increasing at a high speed.
When we consider the families in poor countries, they have at least six or seven kids. But those kids do
not have a proper health or the parents cannot provide proper education for them. And also those parents
cannot provide good foods filled with suitable nutrients to their kids due to lack of wealth. Because of that
their healthiness decreases by a considerable amount. The development of their brains becomes
insufficient and due to that their ability to get a proper education decreases.
So taking necessary steps to develop health and education sectors in these countries is a good way to
reduce poverty. So firstly we have to develop services for pregnant women of those countries and provide
them good foods filled with proper nutrients to keep the babies in good health. And then the kids will be in
good health and their brains will be in a better condition to get a proper education. Developing the
education sectors of those countries with the help of charity services and the governments of developed
countries is also a good step to develop education systems in those countries. When we take a look at
the situation of education in a number of African countries affected by poverty we see: language barriers;
a lack of proper facilities; and military conflicts.
