BYA publications, a subsidiary of BYA Consultants located in Los Angeles, California, is an
REVIEW MANUAL independent publisher of the Structural Engineering Review Manual. Ben Yousefi, SE, has
been the editor-in-chief of the manual since 1991. The manual has always been based on the
SEMINARS latest edition of the model Building Code. The current edition (2010), based on the 2006 IBC,
includes complete problems and solutions for the 1990-1995 California SE exams. The Manual
RESULTS & TESTIMONIALS also serves as an excellent resource for a variety of structural engineering day to day
problems with a strong emphasis on seismic design.
POLICIES
We also offer two comprehensive seminars at convenient Southern and Northern California
locations. The 12 sessions dedicated to the design of all material types and analysis
techniques, are instructed by some of the most prominent lectures in their field of
expertise, who have been actively involved in research and/or code development processes.
Starting in 2011 the California SE exam will be based in the new national NCEES 16 hour
exam plus and additional California specific exam, the details for which have not been
determined yet, but it is anticipated to be based on the California Amendments to the model
code. The intent of seminars is to provide an interactive environment for learning that leads
to better understanding of code provisions, better preparation for the SE exam and practice
as a professional structural engineer.
