Introduction to Broadcast Communication
2nd Semester AY 2018-2019
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Scope and significance of broadcasting areas, opportunities, and activities of the industry;
history, ethical standards in broadcasting world systems and laws of broadcasting.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. Identify the roles of the broadcast media in other industries, the society, and in the lives
of the audiences;
2. Understand the histories, fundamental concepts, and current state of broadcast industries
in international and local contexts;
3. Understand the characteristics and functions of the various equipment utilized in the
conduct of broadcasting; and
4. Produce basic research in/about the Philippine broadcast media.

Roles, and Characteristics
II. Histories of Broadcasting: International and Local Contexts

E. AM, FM Online Radio; Basic Equipment for Radio Broadcasting
(SECOND LONG EXAMINATION)
V. Fundamental Concepts of Television Broadcasting
A. The Philippine Television Industries
B. Organization, Economics, and Political Economy of Television Broadcasting
C. Types, Appeals, and Production of Television Programs
D. Principles and Techniques in Television Broadcasting
E. UHF, VHF, and Cable Broadcasting and Online Streaming: Basic Equipment for
Television Broadcasting
VI. Broadcast Media Research: Fundamentals and Practice
