The third grade class will bring their iPads and chargers home on September 23rd to use for academic purposes only as outlined in the attached acceptable use policy. Hi Everyone,

Your child will bring home his/her iPad and charger on Monday, September 23rd. Please make
sure the Ipad and case are returned to school on a daily basis, fully charged.

Our class discussed appropriate iPad use, care, and how to stay safe on the internet, and then
students agreed upon the District 97 Acceptable Use Policy. Please take a look at the
attachment so that you are familiar with it. We also discussed how the iPad is not for personal
use, but is to be​ used as a tool for learning only ​- ​at school ​and at home​. ​Please monitor
your child, and make sure he or she is using it for academic purposes only.

For your reference, here are the main reasons they will need their Ipads at home:

● Third grade blog (there are academic games that they are allowed to play from the
blog too)
● Zearn
● Khan Academy
● Moby Max
● Raz Kids
● Senor Wooly
● Additional Math and Reading resources may be assigned throughout the year.
● Other Apps may be used in accordance with Specials’ Curriculum (Art, Music,
Spanish, Library)

If your child is on any other applications or sites, you may want to ask some follow-up questions
to make sure they are using it for academic purposes. The home screen and lock screen should
not be personalized. These backgrounds should not be changed at all this year. Please reiterate
with your child the importance of taking care of the iPad and that it is a tool for learning only.
Having and using the Ipad is a privilege as well as a life skill for all students. If you have any
