CHAPTER 1
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND
This chapter presents the introduction, background of the study, conceptual
framework, and statement of the problem, assumptions, scope and limitation of the study,
significance of the study and also the definition and terms used in the study.
INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Education is the most powerful weapon. We can use to it change the world.1 It is
process of acquiring the body of knowledge and skills that people are expected to have
in your society. A good education develops a critical thought process in addition to
learning accepted facts. It also encourages intellectual curiosity, which will lead to lifelong
learning.2 Therefore, a good education must have a good quality and also have a good
management.
A school management system is the main system for professionally functioning
schools, and contains applications like. Registration, Enrolment, Attendance, Scheduling,
School management includes every information of a student like student information,
examination management, teacher and children attendance, managing fees and
accounts, library management. Every department of these and object has various types
of transaction in campus which requires to be recorded and managed for clear information
which can be delivered to parents, principal, government and management in essential
format which is done through good education ERP. School management software are
intended and settled for decreasing pressure of data management from school. They
mechanize every management of exam, fees, homework, and result and also provide
notification facility for all the users. It comprises of an app for better communication to
parents teacher student and to make it more feasible to users. School management
software must have both the web and app for management of school as today’s
generation is mobile dependent and is more comfortable in using app for all their work.
So in simple words School Management contains huge database system that is been
used to manage your school’s daily activities.
Every industry is becoming smart in these days by implementing high-end technologies.
Schools and colleges are not an exception to this trend. Majority of the schools became
smart already, by integrating advanced technologies like school management
system (School Software ERPs) into their daily chores. The education industry is
undoubtedly one of the sectors that have found the best use of technology. This has
helped education industry to save time and money to a great extent by avoiding manual
paperwork and taking many shortcuts in their daily academic and administrative activities.
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK
The conceptual framework (shown on Figure 1.) of the study will be based on the
Waterfall System Development Life Cycle (Systems Development Life Cycle). The cycle
consists of Planning and Requirement Analysis, Designing, Implementation or Coding,
Testing, and Maintenance.
The first phase is Planning and Requirement Analysis, in this phase must be
include: system requirements are studied and structured, gathering system requirements,
documentation, know scope, constraints, risk, & costs. Planning for the quality assurance
requirements and identification of the risks associated with the project is also done in the
planning stage. The outcome of the technical feasibility study is to define the various
technical approaches that can be followed to implement the project successfully with
minimum risks.
The second phase is designing, a design approach clearly defines all the
architectural modules of the product along with its communication and data flow
representation with the external and third party modules (if any). The internal design of
all the modules of the proposed architecture should be clearly defined with the minutest
of the details in DDS.
The third phase is Implementation or Coding, in this stage of SDLC the actual
development starts and the product is built. The programming code is generated as per
DDS during this stage. If the design is performed in a detailed and organized manner,
code generation can be accomplished without much hassle. Developers must follow the
coding guidelines defined by their organization and programming tools like compilers,
interpreters, debuggers, etc. are used to generate the code. Different high level
programming languages such as C, C++, Pascal, Java and PHP are used for coding.
The programming language is chosen with respect to the type of software being
developed.
The fourth phase is testing, this stage refers to the testing only stage of the product
where product defects are reported, tracked, fixed and retested, until the product reaches
the quality standards defined in the SRS.5
And the last phase is the Maintenance, once when the customers starts using the
developed system then the actual problems comes up and needs to be solved from time
to time. This process where the care is taken for the developed product is known as
maintenance.6

Advance School Management System of Renaissance School of Science and
Technology will be accepted.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
This study was conducted to:
1. Determine the acceptability level of the junior high school students in Advance
School Management System of Renaissance School of Science and Technology.
2. Determine the acceptability level of the senior high school students in Advance
School Management System of Renaissance School of Science and Technology.
3. Determine the acceptability level of the college students in Advance School
Management System of Renaissance School of Science and Technology.
4. Determine the acceptability level of the faculty members of high school department
in Advance School Management System of Renaissance School of Science and
Technology.
5. Determine the acceptability level of the faculty members of college department in
Advance School Management System of Renaissance School of Science and
Technology.
6. Fee Payment made easy.
7. To make it easier for you to get information about school tuition fee.
8. Security of students and staffs has improved significantly.
9. Better School inventory and asset management.
10. Improved the overall communication network.
11. Exam management became highly organized.
12. Admission process and ID card generation became fast and easy.
13. Customizations and configuration.
SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY
This research will be focused on Advance School Management system of renaissance
school of science and technology because it will help and to improve the system of the
said school. This will be conducted on T.Claudio St. Brgy San Pedro, Morong Rizal
because this is the place where the School established. This research will be conducted
on December 2018- March 2019.The researcher will make design of the system and prior
to that they will give questioner checklist which they need to respond. We choose those
respondents because they are related to the said problem.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The results of the study will be beneficial to the schools, students, teachers,
companies and future researcher.
This system will contribute to the improvement of school management in
Renaissance School of Science and Technology. We hope that this system will help the
school administration and also the student to be drawn to this new system regarding to
school management– a student-centred approach – and to adapt it as an effective
advance school management system that will benefit the students and also the school.
Schools – The management system boosts the productivity of the institute. The reason
of the increase in productivity is decreased time to maintain the track records and
increased accuracy in organizing the data. Less time leads to keep the institute focused
on the productivity of the school.
Students – When you have a good student information system in the school it helps the
students perform to their fullest potential
Teachers – Availability of more time for students and Access to own and students'
attendance
Future Researcher – It may help them in the future and also if they want to continue or
give additional improvements to this system.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
Education- is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition
of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. Educational methods
include storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and directed research. Education
frequently takes place under the guidance of educators, but learners may also educate
themselves.
SDLC- is a process followed for a software project, within a software organization. It
consists of a detailed plan describing how to develop, maintain, replace and alter or
enhance specific software. The life cycle defines a methodology for improving the quality
of software and the overall development process.
School management system-a tool that specifically designed to streamline the
paperless administration of school and educational institution. It consist of various
modules that greatly help the teachers and staff in maintaining students records,
academic history and other essential students information
School Software ERPs - ERP software (sometimes just called an Enterprise Resource
Planner, or, “an ERP”) is software that manages business processes for a company,
organization, or, in your case, a school/district.
