METHOLODGY
METHOD STATEMENT FORM
SCOPE
This procedure is prepared for Plain Cement concrete, bending & placement of
reinforcement bars and Reinforced Cement concrete as per relevant drawings &
specifications.
WORK PROCEDURE FOR PCC
The work of Plain Cement concrete shall consist of laying and compacting of cement
concrete on excavated earth. The excavated pit shall be dressed true to line and levels and
excavated /unsuitable material shall be disposed off.
ORDINARY PORTLAND CEMENT
The cement shall be procured from reputed manufactures in bulkers and will directly unload
in into the cement Silos connected to batching plant for ready to use for production of
concrete.
The cement shall be procured from reputed manufactures in bags of 50 kg each. The
cement shall be stocked at raised platform in covered Cement store to protect it from
moisture, sun and rain etc.
CRUSHED STONE AGGREGATES OF VARIOUS SIZES AND GRADATION
Coarse Aggregates shall be of clean, hard strong, dense, non-porous crushed stone of
specified gradation. Initially the aggregates shall be purchased from market.
METHOD STATEMENT FORM
NATURAL SAND
The natural sand shall be used for PCC & RCC work or the sand came from river bed. It shall
be tested for Fineness Modulus, Silt Content etc.
1. DEPLOYMENT OF EQUIPMENT
As per the requirement and the direction of Project Manager.
DEPLOYMENT OF MANPOWER
As per the requirement and the direction of project manager.
CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS:
Excavation dimension must be checked before start of P.C.C. and necessary
shuttering must be done, if required.
Take care to sprinkle water and ram manually in foundation pit before placing
concrete.
Ensure availability of chute, panja, koba, etc before start.
Compaction of P.C.C. should be properly done to get smooth even levelling course.
The dimension of excavation has to be checked before start of PCC and necessary
shuttering to be done if required.
PROCEDURE FOR CUTTING AND BENDING OF REBAR
1. MATERIALS TO BE USED
METHOD STATEMENT FORM
Steel used in the works shall be a high yield strength deformed steel bar conforming to IS
1786-1985 (latest revision) manufactured by those agencies having BIS license. Any other
steel specified for reinforcement work shall confirm in every respect to the latest relevant
Indian Standard specifications.
SL EQUIPMENT RATED CAPACITY SIZE
NO.
1 Bar cutting machine ? 36 mm Dia.
2 Bar bending machine ? 36 mm Dia.
(a) BENDING & CUTTING:
Bending of reinforcement steel bars requires adequate supervision, skilled workmanship
and efficient equipment.
The dimension of bends shall be so given that a minimum amount of calculation is necessary
for marking of bars. The dimensioning procedure shall be used as per drawings.
Bar once bent shall not be reworked for modification etc. without the approval of the
Engineer-in-charge.
Bars having cracks or splits on the bends shall be rejected.
METHOD STATEMENT FORM
After bending of bars, they shall be properly tagged according to number for easy
identification.
(b) SPACING, SUPPORTING AND CLEANING
All reinforcement shall be placed and maintained in the positions shown on the drawings.
18swg wire shall be used as binding wire. All bars crossing one another shall be bound with
this wire twisted tight to make the skeleton on network rigid. Bars must be cleaned with dry
gunny bags if they are coated lightly with rust or other impurities. Required number of MS
chairs & spacer bars shall be used in order to ensure accurate positioning of reinforcement.
Type & size of bar.
1. Number of bars.
2. Location of bends, cranks, hooks.
3. Location and length of laps, splices
4. Curtailment of bars.
5. In two-way reinforcement, check the direction of reinforcement in various
layers.
6. Adequate number of chairs, spacer bars and cover blocks.
7. Size of cover blocks.
(c) COVER TO REINFORCEMENT:
All cover blocks shall be of cement mortar (1:2). The minimum cover to be provided shall be
in accordance with the provisions in the structural drawings.
TRANSPORTATION & PLACING:
METHOD STATEMENT FORM
HYSD bars will be transported from the fabrication yard by trailers or either manually if it is
nearby from the work area.
PROCEDURE FOR RCC WORK
The work of Reinforced Cement concrete shall consist of laying and compacting of cement
concrete in structures in accordance with the requirements of GEPIL.
REINFORCED CEMENT CONCRETE.
1. MATERIALS TO BE USED REINFORCEMENT STEEL
The Reinforcement Steel, Sand, Cement, & Aggregates Shall be used as Approved IS Code
and As per the TPL Requirements.
OTHER MATERIALS
Associated materials and consumables like water for concrete works, binding wire and cover
blocks for reinforcement work, supports, nails and shuttering oil for formwork, tools and
tackles shall be arranged and checked for conformance to good engineering and accepted
standards.
METHOD STATEMENT FORM
Other materials like PVC pipe for provision of weep holes, compressible filler board for joint
between old and new joint, filter media material beneath stone pitching, Concrete
Admixtures used as super-plasticizers:
Concrete Admixtures shall be obtained only from the established manufactures with proven
track record, quality assurance and testing of concrete.

1. IMPLEMENTATION
Well before proposed start date for RCC works, Mix Design for all grades of concrete to be
used in works shall be conducted in Field Laboratory as per approved Technical
Specifications. The Mix Design shall be conducted in the presence of TPL representatives.
Admixtures such as super-plasticizers for concrete may be used without exceeding specified
limit prescribed by the manufacturers, as the selection of appropriate concrete admixtures
is an integral part of the mix design.
The production of concrete shall be done with Concrete Batching and Mixing plant of
required capacity. In no case shall mixing be done for less than 10 minutes and shall be
transported through transit mixers and placed at the work site through concrete pump and
bucket or manually depending upon quantity of concrete to be handled. Transportation of
concrete shall be done in transit Mixers.
The RCC shall be done throughout the length and width of structure to be constructed and
shall conform to specified levels and grade providing firm foundation and level bed.
Concrete shall not be freely dropped into place from a height exceeding 1.5m to avoid
segregation of material.
METHOD STATEMENT FORM
Casting of structures shall be done by placement of shuttering for foundation in line and
level followed by reinforcement binding and concreting. All these works shall be executed as
per the procedures and norms already laid down herein above.
OTHER ACTIVITIES: CURING
One or a combination of the following curing methods can be adopted depending on
site conditions, availability of curing materials, type of job, economics etc.
Methods to prevent loss of water in concrete during the early stage of hydration by
pounding, water spraying or saturated wet coverings.
Methods to prevent loss of water in concrete by sealing the exposed surface i.e.
covering the exposed surface with sheets of plastic or other impervious materials,
applying membrane forming compounds etc.
The curing period in ambient temperatures ill b as per FQAP.
