Project Guidelines:
Scene Work
For increased communication of your intentions, your scene must have a clear start and
end to it. The interaction between the characters should be clear, honest, creative, and
appropriate. All scenes must be no less than 8 minutes and no more than 10 minutes long.
The selections should be appropriate for your age, your skill level and maturity, as well as
for the nature of this assignment. Remember, I am not impressed with pieces with a
“shock value.” All material should be presented as if within the context of a full
production
Staging
Selections should be creatively and appropriately staged according to their styles and
genres. Your acting choices should be consistent.
Voice & Diction
Use your vocal instrument clearly and articulately, with honesty, creativity, and
appropriate tone, according to the style and genre of the piece. If a piece demands you to
use an accent you must use it, but employ it flawlessly.
Nonverbal Expression
Use all of your physical instruments clearly, with honesty and creativity. Your body
language and the usage of your body and face must be accurate, useful and clear.
Set and Costumes
You must create full out sets, and it may not be just a table and chairs, there needs to be a
background, furniture, props and so on… and after your performance is done, you must
take everything home that day, or you will receive points off. Perform this as if you
were opening in a real theatre and as if you were doing the whole show.
Script-Work
In a nice and neat notebook you will turn in the script, with all of the blocking and stage
directions written neatly into the script. All weekly journals from the group, your set
design and costume design for each person. This is to be very professional and creative.
As a group you can succeed or you can fall, it is up to you and your partners to work at
all times to complete a cohesive and creative project.

Break down of when things are due: anything turned in will need to look professional-
typed up, and in complete sentences.
Any time you write that you went over a specific item, on your log, you need to turn in
the rough drafts to go along with your work, example- “Today we worked on the costume
designs for our characters, and since Mary Sue is in charge of the costume designs she
drew out these rough draft sketches to give an idea of what each of us will be wearing.”
(You would staple the rough draft designs to the log and turn them all in)
