CHAPTER 1
1.0 Introduction
In today’s Generation, we are in a world full of gadgets, machines, and other
technology-related materials that can change our lives for the better. As technology continues to advance,
computers becomes necessary to everyday life. Computers are already seen everywhere at work, at
school, and at home. Computers are used in almost every field and profession like education and office
works to perform large number of computer related work. Computerization is a control system that
manages processes in industrial workplace. It reduces human errors and processing time, it can speed up
productivity that results into high quality of product. This can result in a system with well-integrated
processes that can perform much faster and more accurate than the manual system. And to relate all of
these to our study, the proponents wants to help Silver Link School of Caloocan Inc. to have and to
improve their process of enrollment simply by proposing a Computerized Enrollment System that can
help them and more helpful than the old and manual style.
An Enrollment System is a system designed to perform the process involved in registration, advising, and
payments of the students as well as scheduling of classes. Enrollment Systems is a convenient way of
storing files of the student enrollees in a computer system that lessens the effort of faculty staff every
year. Thus, all of the student’s information would be secured since it is stored in the database. Lack of
enrollment system or having an old school style can lead to misplacing the information of every student.
Silver Link School of Caloocan Inc. is still using a manual-style system. The administration used a
manual-style system in recording and retrieving student’s information and payments. . Enrollment
System is a good example of a computer generated process. This can lessen the workload and
provides accurate information needed of the school. As a result, it will benefit not only the student but
the administration as a whole. Enrollment System is very essential in a school.
1.1 Statement of the Problem
As the Enrollees increases every year, the harder they are dealing in storing and editing each
Student’s information. A manual process of enrollment system takes more time and effort and causes delays
of transactions. This will serves slower procedures and confusion in the staffs.
1.1.1 General Problem
How to create a Computerized Enrollment System for Silver Link School of Caloocan Inc. The
Enrollment System of this school seems to be slow and takes more time and effort and it also causes delays
of transaction.
1.1.2 Specific Problem
Manual Enrollment system takes up a lot of space in storing data.
It also prone to damage and being misplaced.
It is also time consuming to make changes in the data.
The productivity of the staff is lowered by spending so much time dealing with a paper filling
system.
Unexpected problems such as loss of information may occur.
1.2 Current State of Technology
Silver Link School of Caloocan Inc. has a slow process of enrollment. They’re still using Manual
Enrollment System, process their enrollment and registration using a ball pen and some forms, storing
them in an old-school archive. And when they needed it, they will manually find the student’s
information. With that, they might lose some papers containing the information and payments.
1.3 Objectives
The following are the general and specific objectives that the developers of the
Computerized Enrollment System wished to be succeeded at the end of the development.
1.3.1 General Objectives
The general objectives is to design and developed a Computerized Enrollment System, to help
the administrator to process the registration faster and storing the information and payments in a secured
database system. To reduced workloads and provides precise information.
1.3.2 Specific Objectives
To create a system that will make the enrollment registration process easier and faster and storing
them in more secured than archive.
To provide the needs in storing information in a faster and in convenient way.
To lessen the effort of faculty and staff in storing files of each student every now and then.
To design and develop a computerized enrollment system that will replace the manual
process.
To generate reports faster and more accurate.
To prevent or minimize the loss of records.
