The Ministry of Human Resource Development in India has approved a change to the admission process for the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) program. Starting in 2021-22, admission to DASA will be based on students' ranks in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main exam administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Previously, admission was not based on JEE Main. The NTA conducts the computer-based JEE Main exam in India and abroad for admission to undergraduate programs at IITs, NITs and other institutes. From 2021 onward, the NTA will prepare a separate merit list for DASA admission based on students' JEE Main ranks.
