Theatre Booking System

A theatre booking system is a project that allows users to check for available seats
in the theatre and can even book them at the same time. It happens when people
go for a movie and they return in disappointment due to houseful. Hence the
project is intended to overcome this situation by automating the manual booking
system, online. Users can make prior bookings for desired seats for their desired
show at desired time and cost. The system provides additional optional things like
food packages, discounts etc. It also calculates all the associated charges incurred
in booking the ticket and the items. This is an advanced booking system that
makes user customize their show according to their needs.

The modules of the project are listed as below:

 Admin Login: The system has an admin who solely controls all the system
functions. He can update all the theatre information and can even make
modifications.
 User login/registration: Every user has to create an account into the system
by registering themselves. He can then view all the theatre details.
 Seat availability check: The system consistently checks for the seats that
are booked and that are available. The system distinguishes it with colors so
that users get a clear idea. The seats that are already booked are marked
yellow, and the one that are available, marked grey.
 Seat booking online for date and time: The booking system can be seen
according to date and time slots. Use can select to book available seats as
per required date and time slot.
 Additional facilities: User may even opt to book for optional things like food
and other.
 Automatic cost calculation: The system calculates amount for all the
booked things and generates an online bill for the users.
 Seat cancellation: User may even cancel the bookings that have been done
before and can book for another one.

This Application uses Asp.net as a front-end and sql as the back-end.


Software Requirements:

 Windows Xp, Windows 7(ultimate, enterprise)


 Sql 2008
 Visual studio 2010

Hardware Components:

 Processor – i3
 Hard Disk – 5 GB
 Memory – 1GB RAM

Advantages:
 Sometimes it happens that the seats get booked soon when one visits the
theatre therefore user can make advance booking using this system.
 It saves user time in search of show and seats available.
 The system generates online bill for requested show.
 Users can even cancel the booking which is an added advantage of the
system.
 It saves organization resources, efforts and expenses.
Disadvantages:
 The booking process usually requires a customer identity which the system
cannot detect.
 It requires internet connection.
Applications:
 This system can be applied in theatres.
