Common Core State Standards:


Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze in detail its development over the course of the text,
including how it emerges and is shaped and refined by specific details; provide an objective summary of the

Objective (Explicit):
 Students will be able to rewrite the ending of a novel we read and analyze how the new ending has
changed the theme of the novel.
Evidence of Mastery (Measurable):
 Students write a cohesive ending to a novel.
 Students are able to explain exactly how the theme has changed because of their new ending.
Driving Question: If you had the opportunity to, how would you rewrite the ending to a novel? How will your new ending affect the over arching theme
of the book?
